Professional Experience
Researcher Nanyang Technological University (From Jan 2010 till date) Working on a research project regarding safety stock planning in global supply chains Risk management techniques of supply chains Calculation of inventory shortfall and planned production lead time Effect of multiple supplier in stochastic demands Calculation of total inventory cost Development Engineer (Sourcing): Product Development Department Toyota Motor Company (From Aug 2006 to Dec 2007) Worked on purchasing, cost saving, new development and localization, vendor improvement projects with four strategic suppliers. Localized the components of Corolla 2008 (around 68) and successfully met requirements in TMC Japans Global Evaluation from March to Sep 07. The approval rate found to be more than 85% after on vehicle dynamic testing. Negotiated the suppliers (local and foreign) on development, quality and pricing and delivery issues for the tools (dies and molds) of Corolla 2008. Monitored and coordinated the progress of the projects on day to day basis with the suppliers. Led vendor improvement activities with the assistance of engineers from TMC (Japan) and TMAP (Thailand). The focus areas are Lean Implementation, Kaizen, Five S, Tool Design and Inventory Management Assisted Quality Task Force in order to reduce Defect PPM from 27000 to less than 600 and eliminated the backlog of several suppliers. Led cross functional team (including QA, QC and Production personnel) in vendor performance and evaluation audits Maintained OBEYA ROOM on the behalf of Development department for the projects updates. Initiated Daihatsu Cuore 2nd phase localization; initial estimate indicates over Sg$ 1 Million in cost saving. Maintained Process flow charts (PFC) for the existing products and conducted periodic audits of key suppliers as per PFCs
Industrial Engineer: Quality Management Department Feroze Textile Industries Ltd (Feb 2006 to Aug 2006) Developed time standards and set productivity targets for stitching, grading and cutting processes for Wal-Mart and Target products. Plotted the layout for new cutting and stitching facility to optimize work flow and increase utilization of resources. Calculated capacities of existing dyeing and bleaching setups, improved material management system and optimized the labor work force and machines. Conducted hazard analysis for certification of ISO14000 and performed routine audits for ISO9000 in dyeing and bleaching departments. Introduced the concepts of Kaizen and 5S on production floor. Calculate optimum inventory levels for dyeing chemicals
