Global Summer Studies Registration Brief for Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Dear Student, Thank you for your interest in the 2012 Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) International Summer School (ISS), which runs from 26 June 30 July 2012. The CUHK ISS registration period starts from 20 February onwards. You are encouraged to register early to get into your preferred course(s). Summer Sessions are open to international students from around the world and entry to summer classes is on a firstcome-first-served basis. Please read this important registration brief Before You Register 1. Review your schedule during the period of your summer program. Applicants who are already committed to other academic activities such as IA/PA/PI or other personal priorities, you should not proceed further. 2. Read posted sections on Visa, Information and Policies, Fee Statement, Refund Policies, and Questions and Answers on the CUHK International Summer School website. 3. Read up on the CUHK courses you wish to register at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/osp/iss/prog2_courses.html. Choose courses that do not clash in terms of classroom instruction and exam schedules. To Register 4. If you have not applied online during the GSS application period, you now need to seek approval for your participation from your schools exchange coordinator first. Approval from your exchange coordinator can be requested via email. 5. Forward the approval email to Global Summer Studies GSS@ntu.edu.sg. Provide additional information (see below) in your email. IRO will grant you access to the StudentLink online course matching portal. The portal facilitates course matching between you and your school coordinator. The records will be used to transfer the credits back to your NTU course of study upon successful completion of the programme. In the email, you should include the following information The email from my school coordinator showing approval for participation as a fee-paying student. 6. If you have applied online during the NTU application period, double check that you have received a GSS email confirming your schools approval for your participation. Continue to work with your school on the online course matchings. Ensure that you have reached an agreement with your school regarding the credit transfer arrangement for each course via the online course matching portal before the summer program begins. If there are last minute courses to be added/dropped, contact your coordinator immediately for a confirmation first and then update the course matching portal as follow-up. 7. If you participate for personal enrichment and do not wish to transfer the credits back to your course of study, inform your exchange coordinator. You may skip step 5 above and proceed to register with the host university. 8. Please register with the host university only when you have duly reviewed the courses you like to take, worked out the course matchings with your school, and understand the terms and conditions for your participation. 9. Credit card payment is needed to settle your program fees. You will be required to settle the total fees within a few working days after acceptance by CUHK. Do not use a debit card. After You Register 10. You will receive a Welcome Packet by email soon. It will contain your confirmed class schedule and other important information. 11. On campus housing is provided (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/osp/iss/housing.html) but it is not compulsory. You can take up other non-campus accommodation depending on your budget and preferences. 12.
