THE FIFTH SUNDAY IN LENT

PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
Dearest Jesus, You came not to be served but to serve so that You gave Your life for me and for all as a ransom. Through Your suffering and death I have been bought back from eternal suffering and death. Grant that I, by your Holy Spirits power, seek to live my life in service to You and my neighbor showing forth Your love. May Your humble service be an example to me for living my life even as it is the source of eternal life for me. In Your name I pray. Amen

WELCOME
Welcome to Grace! As you enter the Sanctuary for worship this morning you should have the assurance that you are protected from the stresses, troubles and dangers that come with living in the world. If only for this hour you have an opportunity to know a peace that come from the Gospel that should be a reprieve for you, a momentary relief from the burdens of your fears and anxieties. Yet as You leave here today may that peace of God which surpasses our understanding go with you. It is the peace that this world cannot give. If you are visiting with us we especially wish to welcome you! We ask that everyone fill out an attendance card found at each pew and return it to an usher during the Offering. If you would like to know more about Grace, please speak with our Pastor. Restrooms are located downstairs in this building or across the bridge on this floor level before entering the Fellowship Hall. Children are welcome in our Service and will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.

HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion is celebrated in our 8:15 Service this morning. If you are not a member of Grace and desire to receive this Sacrament of Christs body and blood given and shed for the forgiveness of sins, we ask that you first speak with our Pastor so that the unity of faith might be established. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHER
Have you ever tried to tell someone something important while they babble on about trivial things? Today, just a week away from Palm Sunday, Jesus is trying to speak of what is to come, but the disciples were not listening. They argued about who was greatest. Their conversation ends as Jesus speaks about His cross and that pattern for our lives. He did not come to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. If we seek greatness, the path we follow will be shaped by the cross and will demonstrate the same loving service that we have received in Christ.

NEXT WEEKS READINGS - The appointed readings for next Sunday, April 1st: Palm Sunday Sunday of the Passion, are: The Old Testament Reading: Zechariah 9:9-12, The Epistle Reading: Philippians 2:5-11, and The Gospel Reading: Mark 15:1-47.

we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. Exhortation
P C

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

P Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, C from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! P I love the LORD, because he has heard C my voice and my pleas for mercy. P Because he inclined his ear to me, C therefore I will call on him as long as I live. P The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; C I suffered distress and anguish. P Then I called on the name of the LORD: C O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!

Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination.

Confession of Sins
P C Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what

Prayer of Thanksgiving
P Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we beg You, O Lord, to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit. Grant us faithfully to eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us do in His own testament. Gather us together, we pray, from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone, O Father, be all glory, honor, and worship, with the Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Lord's Prayer
C Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen
