System requirements
The recommended system requirements of Predictor are: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2,8 GHz or better 2 GB of RAM or more Operating system: Windows XP Graphical driver/display: SVGA display or better with Open GL support CD-ROM drive for installation 200 MB of hard-disk space for the Predictor system At least 50 MB of hard-disk space for each Predictor project The digitizer must be either WintabTM compatible or must be able to output coordinates in ASCII stream mode

Disk space for Predictor projects

A Predictor project contains many files and folders. The number of files and folders is not limited. The size of a Predictor project can therefore be between several Mb and several Gb. This depends on the number and size of the models in the project. The size of a model is depending on the number of items in the model and the size of the result file. In many cases the size of the result file will be the main contributor to the model size. The size of a result file is depending on the number of receivers, the number of sources, the number of groups and the user selectable setting for result storage. The largest result files are created when selecting source results and/or group results. The smallest result files are created when selecting total results.

Digitizers
Digitizers must be able to output the coordinates in ASCII stream mode or must be Wintab compatible. In ASCII stream mode, the digitizer is addressed directly without the need to install a device driver. In that case, the digitizer must be configured in Predictor using the File|Digitizer|Digitizer setup menu option. In the case of a Wintab compatible digitizer, a Wintab device driver must be installed. This driver should be available from the digitizers supplier. For questions concerning the Wintab installation or the digitizer settings, check the digitizer manual or contact your System Manager. As the use of a digitizer can affect the response time of Predictor, this option is by default de-activated. To activate the digitizer option, the following lines need to be added to the file predictor.ini. This file is located in the folder <APPDATA>\Predictor. [Digitiser] Enabled=1 Note: To open this folder select Run from the Windows start-menu and type %APPDATA%\Predictor.

Wintab The Wintab (Windows-based Tablet) specification is an open industry standard software interface specification that was developed in 1991 and has been supported by the members of CAPS (Committee for Advanced Pointing Standards). Wintab provides a consistent interface between applications and tablets from different manufacturers. Predictor supports this standard, as well as many tablet and application manufacturers. For more information concerning Wintab, digitizers, and applications supporting the Wintab standard and links to Wintab drivers see http://www.pointing.com. Note: Predictor automatically checks whether a Wintab driver is installed. If a Wintab driver is not installed, it is not possible to use the File|Digitizer|Digitizer setup menu option.

Printers
Any printer can be used, provided it has a Windows device driver. No special setup is needed. For graphical output, it is important to use the latest printer drivers. If necessary, ask your vendor for new printer drivers. In general, postscript drivers are preferred. Predictor creates graphical output in raster format. Most pen plotters do not support this format. If in doubt, ask your vendor whether your plotter supports raster format.

The HASP Hardware Key

All software is protected by a hardware key in combination with license files. The hardware key is a small device that has to be connected to the local printer or USB port. The software will only function fully if the hardware key and the license files are present. The HASP driver can be installed manually by running the program HDD32.EXE from the Predictor program folder. After installing the driver, the computer needs to be rebooted. Caution! Do not connect the hardware key to the computer before the HASP drivers have been installed. Connecting the key in advance will install the wrong drivers.

Installing the Software

Installing the Predictor Suite Place the Predictor CD-ROM in the CD drive. The installation program will start automatically. If not, start the installation program manually. From the Windows Start menu, select the Run function and enter D:\SETUP.EXE where D is the letter for the CD drive. Follow the instructions in the installation program. During installation, it is possible to choose which components will be installed: Predictor; Predictor Analyst; Acoustic Determinator and Predictor Calculation Client.

Selecting a component will start the corresponding installation software.

Licensing
All components are protected by a hardware key in combination with license files. For each hardware key, one or two license files are needed. These license files will be placed in the program folders during the installation. All software need the license file <dongle-id>.lic. This file is only valid for the HASP hardware key with the same identification. It is also possible to name the license file predictor.lic. In this case the installation is only valid for one dongle. If the user multiple licenses, each license needs to be installed in a separate folder. Predictor and the Predictor Calculation Client Pack require a second license file called <dongle-id>.liz, which can also be called lizdat_enduser.liz if only one license is present. The software will only function fully if the hardware key and the required license files are present.

Predictor
Predictor must be installed in a new, empty folder on the local hard disk or network drive. The Predictor installation software will also install SourceDB+; a program for managing sound power levels. Shortcuts can be placed on the desktop and/or in the start menu. Modelling license It is possible to user Predictor in modelling mode. With this option modelling can be done on any computer, the only restriction is that it is not possible to perform calculations, run macros or export results. For this option the file predictor.lic must be present in the program folders, this can be done by making a copy of <dongle-id>.lic and rename it.

Predictor Analyst
Predictor Analyst must be installed in a new, empty folder on the local hard disk or network drive. A shortcut can be placed on the desktop and/or in the start menu.

Acoustic Determinator
Acoustic Determinator must be installed in a new, empty folder on the local hard disk or network drive. A shortcut can be placed on the desktop and/or in the start menu.

Predictor Calculation Client

Calculation time can be reduced with a network calculation using Predictors Calculation Client add-on package installed on one or more workstations in the network. The Calculation Client License Pack enables the user to run a calculation on 3 workstations simultaneously. Each additional Calculation Client add-on package increases the number of parallel workstations by 2. The Calculation Client itself has minimal impact on network and workstation performance, even while a calculation is active. Once installed, Predictor takes care of the distribution and monitoring of calculation jobs. Redistribution of failed jobs (for example, when the workstation shuts down) is automatic. The calculation can be started using the shortcut in the menu, or by starting the shortcut PRECC.LNK located in the program folder of the calculation client. During installation a shared folder for the calculation clients must be selected. This folder needs to be located on a network drive and needs to be identical for all workstations on which the calculation client pack will be installed. Not only the folder name has to be identical, but also the physical location on the network drive. In addition, all users need to have sufficient rights for this folder.
