Meteorologist for a Day Project Procedure You will create and present a weather report similar to those presented

by meteorologists on local news stations. The use of Microsoft Power Point is suggested to create slides similar to those you view on the news. The following must be included in your weather report. The Earth Systems project rubric will be used to assess your weather report. You must have a rubric to present. Projects are deducted 10 points for each day late. If the project is a presentation, the student will be required to present on the date and at the time and location directed by the instructor. Weather Report Components 1. Name of television station, location, date, and time of the weather report (7am morning news, 6pm evening news, 11pm nightly news) 2. High and low temperature, precipitation chance, and cloud cover, wind speed and direction, and humidity of the day 3. Barometric pressure and how it has changed, if it has, and its impact on the weather (rising, falling, etc.) 4. Average high and low temperature on that date in that location (need to look in archives) 5. Record high and low temperature on that date in that location (need to look in archives) 6. National weather map with isobars showing pressure (high and low pressure centers) and an explanation of how to read the map and the resulting weather 7. National weather map(s) showing each of the following: fronts, temperatures, cloud cover, and wind velocity and explanations of how to read the map and the resulting weather. You will need more than one map. 8. A photo of a local activity or event and a description of how the weather will impact participants (how to dress, etc.) 9. Five day forecast (high and low temperatures, precipitation chance, cloud cover, wind speed and direction, and humidity for each day) 10.
