About Cebu City
The City of Cebu (Cebuano: DakbayansaSugbo) is the capital city of Cebu and is the "second city" in the Philippines, the second most significant metropolitan center in the Philippines and known as the oldest settlement established by the Spaniards in the country. The city is located on the eastern shore of Cebu and was the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines. Cebu is the Philippines' main domestic shipping port and is home to about 80% of the country's domestic shipping companies. Cebu also holds the second largest international flights in the Philippines and is a significant center of commerce, trade and industry in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. According to the 2009 LGPMS census, the city has a population of about 822,628 people. Cebu City is the center of a metropolitan area called Metro Cebu, which includes the cities of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay. Metro Cebu has a total population of about 2 million people. The Mactan-Cebu International Airport, located in Lapu-Lapu City is only a twenty-minute drive away from Cebu City. To the northeast of the city are Mandaue City and the town of Consolacion, to the west are Toledo City, the towns of Balamban and Asturias, to the south are Talisay City and the town 1 of Minglanilla. Across Mactan Strait to the east is Mactan Island where Lapu-Lapu City is located.
History
On April 7, 1521, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan landed in Cebu and was killed in the Battle of Mactan led by Lapu-lapu. Several conquistadors later visited the land and started a Spanish settlement. The signing of the Treaty of Paris at the end of the Spanish-American War provided for the cession of 2 Cebu along with the rest of the Philippine islands to the United States of America on December 10, 1898. The city, along with the rest of the country came under Japanese occupation during WWII and was liberated in March 1945.

Tourism The city derives significant income from tourism. It hosted the 1998 ASEAN Tourism Forum. The city also hosted the East Asian Tourism Forum on August 2002, in which the province of Cebu is a member and signatory. There are a number of significant Spanish colonial buildings in Cebu City, including the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino, Fort San Pedro, Casa Gorordo Museum and Magellan's Cross. The Cebu Reggae Festival is a popular Filipino Reggae and Roots music festival; it now has become one of the Philippines' largest annual Reggae Festivals, in Cebu City. On Cebuano musical heritage, the Jose R. Gullas Halad Museum in V. Gullas St. (former Manalili) corner D. Jakosalem St. in Cebu City, holds musical memorabilia of Cebuano composers in the early 20th century, the likes of Ben Zubiri (composer of MatudNila), IntingRubi (KasadyaNingTaknaa) and Minggoy Lopez (Rosas Pandan). The city also has a sport institution, the Cebu City Sports Complex which exhibits sporting and festival events. Away from the city is the Cebu Taoist Temple, a Taoist temple in Beverly Hills. The Taoist Temple gives a commanding view of Cebu City and the nearby cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu. Views of Cebu City can also be seen from villages and gated communities located on the mountains. The beauty of Cebu City Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lahug marks the second of its kind in the Philippines after Manila Philippines Temple. Cebu City Philippines Temple serves Latter Day Saints from the island of Masbate, whole Visayas and Mindanao.1

Cebu as an island is already accessible to beaches. However, you can opt to visit the famous white beach island Boracay. Boracay is only a plane and boat ride away from Cebu City. There are daily flights from Cebu City to Caticlan. From Caticlannumerous ferry boats to BoracayIsland are available.

Waiver/Release Agreement for Contestants/Participants

All participants must complete. nd "Event" means the 2 ISKF World Shoto Cup Karate Championships The undersigned is aware that there are risks and dangers inherent in participating and receiving instruction at the Event. In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event to be held at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Cebu City, Philippines, on November 8-11, 2012, I hereby release and waive any claims against ISKF: ISKF Philippines, the International Shotokan Karate Federation, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino and any and all clubs, schools, instructors, members, judges, officials, officers, directors and representatives relating thereto (collectively the "Releases") for any injury or damage which I may suffer while participating and/or receiving instruction at the Event including travel to and from the Event. I understand and agree that this Release will have the effect of releasing, discharging, waiving and forever relinquishing any and all actions, those causes of action that I may have or have had, whether past, present or future, whether now known or unknown and whether anticipated or unanticipated by me, arising out of my participation at the Event. This Release shall be binding upon me, my heirs, successors, administrators, assigns and legal representatives. I assume full responsibility for any and all risk of death or personal injury or property damage, which I may suffer while participating in the Event. Dan Examination
The Dan Registration Request Form must be completed in typewritten form. Please do not submit handwritten forms, as they will be promptly returned. Please do not omit any requested information. Your name should be written exactly as you wish it to appear on your certificate. If any error appears on the final certificate requiring replacement and is deemed to be the fault of the submitter, a US $50.00 fee will be charged. The exact date of your examination, the name of your examiner, and the dates and registration numbers for previous dan registrations must be included in addition to all personal information indicated. Be sure to sign your request form. Also, please be prompt and arrive at the dan exam location at least 1 hour before exam time to sign an additional waiver. All minors (ages 7-17) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign the waiver. If this directive is not complied to, it will prohibit that person from taking the dan exam on that day!
INCOMPLETE, INCORRECT OR HANDWRITTEN REQUEST FORMS WILL BE RETURNED!
The original request form (only 1) must be accompanied by one passport-sized photograph stapled to each dan registration form along with the appropriate registration fee. These materials should be during Registration. Registration fees should be remitted in the form of a certified check or cash U.S. dollars and made to the order of International Shotokan Karate Federation Philippines Inc. Personal checks are not acceptable.

All Dan ranking is registered with the International Shotokan Karate Federation. ISKF will evaluate all registration requests for approval and issuance of registration numbers. Dan certificates will be printed in Japan and forwarded from ISKF Headquarters to the regional director, who at his direction delivers them to the student or his instructor.
