: ORUGANTI SWATHI

PROGRAM : Masters in Chemistry INTAKE : Fall 2012

First of all, thanks for giving me a chance to express myself. I, Oruganti Swathi, completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy at JJ College of Pharmacy, one of the premier institutes under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India. My undergraduate training here has exposed me to a stimulating academic environment where theory and practice go hand-in-hand. Questioning things and obtaining answers to the relevant questions has always helped me in getting through the final task. This way of learning things by logical reasoning seems to increase my knowledge and memorize it in a simple and conceptual way. Right from my childhood, I gained knowledge by this way. My professors always helped me in getting the apt answers for all my questions. I felt that simpler questions with simpler answers always made learning easy. Well I guess that is the beauty of science and I have been consistently mesmerized by this beautiful subject. My four years of pharmacy study have probably been the most enlightening phase of my life. Almost every why question was answered. I felt I was in a position to narrow down my interests to a few specific subjects only to realize that these specific subjects are no less than an ocean. And now I feel thrilled because I know this journey of getting into finer details of things is going to be far more interesting and exciting. This is the reason that brings me to your institution. To pursue a degree at an institution which offers courses with immaculate details, I guess, I have found my ideal place for education. I completed my schooling under the Board of Secondary Education which laid a strong foundation in the basics right from a very tender age. I did represent my school in many state and national level science fairs and succeeded in standing in an award winning position every time. With my aptitude for life sciences, soon I firmly set on the career path. I decided to take the Statewide Medical Entrance Exam. I did well in it and got admitted into at JJ College of Pharmacy. I am proud that I ranked top 5% among all of the students who gave the entrance exam, which facilitated me to pursue a four year bachelors program at this college of pharmacy affiliated to JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY, HYDERABAD, INDIA, one of the countrys most reputable educational institutions. My undergraduate studies played the most cardinal role in my life and also significantly helped in shaping my career. The educational program at JNTU unfolded me to many subjects like Pharmaceutical Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Advanced Communication Skills, Health Education and Pathophysiology, Novel Drug

Delivery Systems and Regulatory Affairs, Dispensing and Hospital Pharmacy, Clinical Research and Therapeutics, Pharmacy Administration and Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence. My course curriculum also helped me implementing the theoretical concepts to the practical work. I always believed that learning things by implementing them would precisely nurture me successful in my life. I underwent industrial training session at PELCOT FORMULATIONS, Hyderabad for a duration of one month in process and over all study of drug manufacturing. I made my project at CHANDRA LABS on METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF STAVUDINE & ZIDOVUDINE BY HPLC, I also worked as a teaching assistant, assisted professors and instructed 1st and 2nd year undergrad students.

Health Care Administration is one of the most emerging fields that associate caring for public health with managerial skills. As I possess good leadership qualities, effective communication and analytical skills, innovative thinking, ability to motivate others and work efficiently in a challenging environment, it paved a persuasive role in determining my career path . My long term career goals include the pursuit of research career, either as a faculty in a university or a researcher in industry. I have found that a career in research is both intellectually stimulating and satisfying and hence I have decided to take this up as my career objective and Graduate Study at your Chemistry department would be the first step towards this goal. My aspiration to work at the frontiers of scientific research leads me to apply to Oklahoma State University (OSU) I would be an ideal candidate for your college since I have been consistently performing well in my Bachelors course procuring 70.11% up till the fifth semester that helped me secure the third rank in my college. I believe that I would be a suitable applicant for Masters in Chemistry in your esteemed university. I have always been inclined towards practical tasks and the everlasting quest to learn more. A wise man is strong and a man of knowledge increased strength. Education should be a medium for the unfolding of ones inborn faculties. This is the kind of education I would want, and one that I know your university will equip me with. There is no greater pleasure than that obtained by teaching. I would make a worthy teacher due to my in-depth knowledge of various subjects and incessant deliberating and conversing skills. It would be a great pleasure and honor for me if given a chance to pursue my further education at your university and if given an opportunity to teach would not fall short of your expectations. By providing me a graduate program in your reputed university you will not only give me an opportunity for career growth but also helps my achievements to culminate.
