In 2009 seven events make-up the championship starting in the Pacific region on the tropical island of New Caledonia, with Rallye de Nouvelle Caledonie, followed by Rally of Whangarei (New Zealand), Rally Queensland (Australia) then on to Asia and Rally Hokkaido (Japan), Malaysian Rally, Rally Indonesia and finally the China Rally in November.

TELEVISION AND MEDIA Each event in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship receives extensive television coverage and distribution via satellite news syndication, featured highlights on global TV series, websites and airlines entertainment. The APRC is available to TV viewers in over 118 countries and a measured audience in 2008 of 390 million TV viewers. Broadcasters include ESPN STAR Sports Asia, Guangdong TV China, Motors-TV Europe, FoxSports Australia, SKY Sports New Zealand and Gyao.jp (webcast). Further details available at www.aprc.tv
COORDINATED SHIPPING Even though the championship is held over such a large geographic area, the logistics of shipping cars and equipment are surprisingly easy when all shipping is handled by APRC coordinator Murray Brown who performs a dual role as shipping coordinator and competitors representative at all events and Working Group meetings. Coordinated shipping means that all containers arrive and depart at the same time with considerable savings for all teams. Based on 2007 costs, the average shipping budget for a team utilizing a 40 SOC container for the whole championship (six events) is US$45,000 for ocean freight and domestic transport. Assistance and advice will be given on other aspects including air freight, customs clearance, documentation, insurance and local assistance. Shipping from home port to first event, and return to home port after last event - can easily be arranged.Teams can consider a 2 car team operating from 1 x 40 HC container to potentially reduce freight costs significantly.

PIRELLI STAR DRIVER COMPETITION As part of a worldwide programme, the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship has launched the Pirelli Star Driver Competition, a project aimed at investing in the growth of the sport and, in particular, helping younger drivers reach World Championship level. The successful driver from the region will win a drive in 2010, competing on six FIA World Rally Championship events in a Group N or Super 2000 car. APRC is a great FIA regional championship and there are many national champion drivers in APRC. It is very hard to win an event, but we had very good experiences in this championship in many countries. Our sponsors are very happy with the World-wide TV distribution.
