After graduating in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, I plan on completing a one-year Masters of Science in Accounting at Geneseo. While attending graduate school, I would like to complete at least two parts of the CPA exam. Soon after the completion of the masters program, I would like to complete any remaining parts of the CPA exam that remain. I would like to launch my full-time accounting career as a staff accountant in a private company in the Rochester area. From there, I would like to excel at my job and move my way up to a management position.

My dream job, ever since I started working for Wegmans in 2005, was to work in accounting at the corporate office after I graduated. I will graduate from Geneseo in two weeks with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, and I plan to continue to pursue my study of accounting. Next year, I will be attending the Masters of Science in Accounting at Geneseo. This current semester, I worked as an audit intern in a large, regional public accounting firm in Henrietta, NY. While interning, I learned several key aspects of accounting in the workplace that built upon my classroom knowledge. These aspects include: professional communication with co-workers and clients, using resources to increase efficiency of work, and the mastering of technology such as Microsoft Outlook, double monitors and accounting software (Caseware and Caseview). After experiencing the public side of accounting, I would like to work in the private sector.
