SEA SURVIVAL & OFFSHORE SAFETY PROCEDURES Course Aim : To provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to assist in their survival in the event of an emergency offshore with the proper use of available emergency equipment.
Course Objectives : By the end of the one day programmed, participants will have an understanding and a thorough knowledge of the following : Launch and inflate a life raft. Re-right and board a life raft unassisted. Life raft management techniques. Life raft emergency equipment and usage. Basic injury management. Basic survival techniques in open water
Competency : All participants must demonstrate the ability to re-right a life raft unassisted, and complete a questionnaire in order to pass the course.
Method Of Training : This course is conducted in two phases. Initial phase is a half day theory course covering all aspects of the life raft and survival at sea. This classroom training utilizes demonstrations of all equipment and discussion on the uses and method of use of the emergency equipment, and Projector presentation to assist.
The second phase is an entirely practical training section conducted in a water environment, where all participants are required to practice and demonstrate the application of all techniques learned in both sessions.
BASIC OFFSHORE SAFETY EMERGENCY TRAINING (BOSET) Course Aim : To provide participants with survival and emergency training in order to prepare them for an emergency in an offshore environment. Day 1 - Sea Survival, Day 2 Basic Fire Fighting & Introduction to Breathing Apparatus, Basic Life Support.
Course Objectives: By the end of the two days programme, participants will have an understanding and a thorough knowledge of the following: Sea Survival skills and techniques Life raft procedures & management Basic Fire Fighting theory Practical use of fire extinguishers, fire blankets Competency : All participants must demonstrate the ability to egress an upturned HUET module unassisted, demonstrate the effective use of fire extinguishment mediums and conduct EAR and CPR in accordance with appropriate internationally recognized standards. All participants must complete a questionnaire in order to pass the course. Method Of Training : This course is conducted in two phases - 2 days Using, don & doff breathing apparatus Basic Life-support - EAR, CPR, DRABC's protocols

Day Two
Consist of basic emergency training including Fire Fighting and using, don & doff breathing apparatus.
The basic life support course with guideline set of International Red Cross.
This training can be conducted at remote locations with sufficient resources such as a swimming pool and a suitable open area for fire training.
Pre-Requisite : All participants must demonstrate an appropriate level of medical fitness with a clearance form before participating in the practical sessions.
Tropical - BASIC OFFSHORE SAFETY IINDUCTION EMERGENCY TRAINING (T-B.O.S.I.E.T) Course Aim : To provide participants with survival and emergency training in order to prepare them for an emergency in an offshore environment. PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES (STCW95) COURSE CONTENT On completion of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following: Types of life-saving appliances normally carried on ships Equipment in Survival Craft Location of personal life-saving appliances Principles concerning survival at sea including: Value of training and drills Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment (PPE) The need to be prepared for any emergency Actions to be taken when called to survival craft stations Actions to be taken when required to abandon ship / offshore installation Actions to be taken when in the water Actions to be taken when aboard a survival craft (life raft etc.) Main dangers to survivors Rescue Techniques COMPETENCY Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or verbal examination of theory. PRE REQUISITE Seafarers are required to be medically fit as per Regulation 1/9 of STCW95. COURSE DURATION This course is conducted over two (2) days. METHOD OF TRAINING Classroom theory sessions followed by practical periods. Resource requirements are classroom and associated equipment and access to a swimming pool, lake or sea.

Offshore Survival & Safety Training Services Division STCW95 ELEMENTARY FIRST AID COURSE CONTENT
On completion of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following: Have an appreciation of the basic body structure and its functions Make an assessment of the needs of casualties and threats to their own safety Have an understanding of immediate measures to be taken in cases of emergencies including the ability to: Position the casualty Apply resuscitation techniques Control bleeding Apply appropriate measures of basic shock management Apply appropriate measures in the event of burns and scalds, including electrical and chemical burns Apply rescue and transport of a casualty technique Improvise bandages and use materials in an emergency kit Knowledge of basic fracture immobilisation techniques

HELICOPTER UNDERWATER ESCAPE TRAINING (HUET) Course Aim : To provide passengers and aircrew with the knowledge and skills necessary to react to and survive a helicopter ditching. To be able to care for themselves in a sea survival situation.

To provide participants with the knowledge and practice of the medical first aid required by first respondents.
Course Objectives: By the end of the three day course participants will be able to describe and demonstrate: Basic life support - EAR - CPR Bleeding control Burns Breaks Site approach Casualty assessment Stabilization Transportation requirements First aid kits
Competency : Assessment of the participants competency is assessed by either a practical or by a written and or oral test. Venue Required : Lecture room environment with access to an outdoor training venue. Method Of Training : This course is conducted at a venue, which will be suitable for the theory and practical instruction of all participants and will include the provision of catering, visual teaching aids and writing materials. Equipment : The provision of first aid training equipment is dependent on the consultation between the company and the training provider. Maximum number of participants 10 person
Offshore Survival & Safety Training Services Division Fast Rescue Boat COURSE AIM
Provides participants who are required to take charge of a fast rescue craft (FRC) with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and competently launch, manoeuvre and recover an FRC.
COURSE CONTENT On completion of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following: Craft description and checks Crew dress and equipment Crew responsibilities Capsize procedures Launch and recovery Man overboard procedures Helicopter recovery Search patterns General handling skills Casualty handling
COMPETENCY Participants are required to pass an assessment of practical skills and a written or verbal examination of theory.
PRE REQUISITE STCW 95 Regulation V1/2 states that the mandatory minimum requirements for the issue of certificates of proficiency in fast rescue boats are: Every candidate for a certificate of proficiency in fast rescue boats shall: Hold a certificate of proficiency in survival craft / rescue boats other than fast rescue boats Have attended an approved training course Meet the standard of competency for certificates of proficiency in fast rescue boats set out in section A-V1/2, paragraphs 5 to 8 of the STCW Code.

Offshore Survival & Safety Training Services Division OFFSHORE MEDIC ENTRY COURSE Course type: Function-orientated course
Intended for: Persons with experience as onshore medic, who are designated as offshore medic to render first aid and medical care to employees at mining installations.
Objective: Training participants supplementary in rendering first aid and medical support at mining installations. After completion of the course participant shall be able executing independently reserved actions as in conformity with the BIG Act.
Learning targets: refreshing on basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, pre hospital trauma life support; procedures and protocols for urgent assistance offshore; communication with shore-based support; medicines and medical equipment offshore; legislation and instructions in relation to medical assistance offshore; medical reporting offshore;

Basic Hydrogen Sulphide

Course Aim This course is designed for all personnel who are working in hydrogen sulphide designated locations.
Course Objectives During the course participants will be able to recognize and accept the hazards associated with Hydrogen Sulphide and its effect on humans and to appreciate the value of H2S gas monitoring equipment and be able to identify and use an escape set for the purpose of evacuation .

Course Aim This course is designed for all personnel who are intend to be a competent Authorized Gas Tester. Course Objectives During the course participants will gain an understanding on the legislative, company requirements, recognizing hazards and gases, pre-entry requirements, safe working codes of practices, be certified as an Authorized Gas Tester for confined space and conduct effective gas testing.

Offshore Survival & Safety Training Services Division SLINGER / SIGNALLER Who should attend ?
Potential and existing operators who have received no formal instruction and those requiring refresher training. Duration : 2 days including relevant safety awareness modules and
achievement test. Aims : To give foundation training and testing towards the achievement of SYP Card. Note : Operators should note that the issue of a SYP Card is dependent upon passing the achievement test. Content : At the end of the course slinger/signaler should be able to : Establish the weight and dimensions of loads and communicate this information to the crane operator. Select appropriate lifting tackle and attach and detach it correctly and safely Direct the actions of a crane moving loads of various weight and dimensions, giving clear and unambiguous signals and in such a manner as to ensure the safety of personnel and plant determine the serviceability of lifting tackle and maintain and store it correctly Knowledge : at the end of the course the Slinger/signaler should have an adequate knowledge of : the duties and responsibilities as required by statute of a slinger/signaler the effects of load movement on the stability of a crane potential hazards associated with crane operation and how to overcome them the effect of varying the angles of multiple slings and how to calculate their safe working loads methods of establishing weights and dimensions of loads the standard code of signals operator problems of crane control automatic safe load indicators crane safety devices

OFFSHORE CRANE OPERATOR WITH CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY Course Aim : To provide trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate an offshore crane in a safe and efficient manner.
Course Objectives : From the course, participants will have knowledge of: Operator's Responsibility Engineering Principles of Crane Stability Rules for Safe Operations Accident Prevention Use of Correct Slinging Practice Mass Weight Calculations

HELICOPTER LANDING OFFICER COURSE (HLO) Course Aim : To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to function effectively and safely as Helicopter Landing Officer on offshore installations in accordance with current industry standards.
Course Objectives : By the end of 1 day program, participants will be familiar with and have practically applied the following duties : Transmit and Receive Radio Messages between the Helicopter and Platform Advise the Helicopter Pilot of Weather, Wind and Sea Conditions on Site Understanding of Helideck Operations and Safety Requirements / Procedures (as per ICAO Standards) Ascertain and Advise the Helicopt Pilot as to Whether Safety Requirements related to Aircraft Operations have been Adhered To Supervise the Movements of Passengers, Baggage & Cargo to and from Helicopter Familiarity with Different Helicopter Types and their Operation and Emergency Procedures Advise Shore Stations of Helicopter Movements, ETA, ETD and Manifest Details Ensuring Adequate Fire Protection is Provided for each Take Off / Landing Familiarity with Management of Dangerous Good Helicopter refuelling and Procedures (Offshore) Basic Marshalling Signals Shutdown and Security of Aircraft on Helideck "Hot" Refuelling Procedures Ensuring that the Platform meets the Safety Requirements for Helicopter Operations ie cranes secured Introduction to Specialised Operations (Search and Rescue, Winching, Medivac, Night Operations)

HELICOPTER FIRE FIGHTING & RESCUE Course Aim : To provide participants with the competencies to fight fires and perform rescues in helicopter related incidents.
Course Objectives : By the end of the two day course participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following: Helicopter construction Refueling procedures (fire fighting requirement) Preplanning Rescue procedures Rescue equipment Protective equipment (SCBA/CLOTHING) Fire fighting procedures

Method Of Training : The course is conducted by PT. SYP, which are very suitable for the theory and practical instruction of all participants and will include the provision of catering, visual teaching aids and writing materials.
Equipment : The provision of protective clothing, fire fighting equipment and breathing apparatus is dependent on the consultation between the company and the training provider.

To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to drive defensively thereby ensuring the safe transportation of company personnel, equipment, stores, the safety of the public and the company vehicles.
Course Objectives : Based on the "HENDON METHOD" of defensive driving. By the end of the two day course participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following : Daily vehicle checks Weekly vehicle checks Basic driving and handling skills Fault finding procedures Defensive driving techniques in local conditions Emergency situations and techniques
Pre Requisites : Current motor vehicle drivers licence (where applicable)
Venue Required : A suitable training area, which reflects the work environment, approaches and exits to and from the work site.
