Anderson Composite Squadron

January/February 2011 Newsletter

Commanders Corner
Happy New Year to Everyone! Thanks for being part of the Anderson Squadron. Your volunteer service and active participation is certainly appreciated. With just a few weeks into the New Year our Squadron activities/plans/goals are off to a great start. Our Web Site is in the final stages of becoming reality, and our project to upgrade the Cadet facilities is moving toward completion in February. We have already had several promotions on both the Senior and Cadet side. And the fall recruiting efforts is still paying dividends with new potential cadets showing up each week. Its looking like a very bright 2011 is ahead of us. So what do we do to make this happen? First, Id ask everyone, Cadets and Seniors, to set some individual goals for 2011 to advance their CAP experience. Go for a promotion, add to your Professional Development resume, advance your Specialty Track skill rating, or take on some new training in the Safety, Emergency Service, Communications or Flight Operations arena. Lets all try to grow individually in the 2011. Lets continue to grow the Squadron. I think a 25/25 cadet and senior member squadron with 80% weekly participation is achievable. Lets support our fund raising efforts with 80-90% participation. Lets shoot for 60 - 70% Squadron activity level at Wing SAR events. Lets set a Safety goal of Zero recordable incidents or accidents. Lets manage all our departments in line with the CAP regulations and at the SUI level of readiness. Lastly, lets work together as a team, have fun and enjoy the fellowship Captain Randy Renz, Squadron Commander

From CAPM 52-4 Chapter 2 National Cadet Color Guard Competition The competition consists of seven events: In-Ranks Inspection, Standard Drill, Indoor Practical Drill, Outdoor Practical Drill, Written Examination, Panel Quiz and the Mile Run. All four members will compete in each event. Unless a formal substitution is made, designated alternates will also participate in the Written Exam and the Mile Run, but their individual scores will not be counted in determining the winner. Each team will consist of four cadets including two cadet airmen and two cadet NCOs. Teams are allowed to have one alternate member.
