Moffitt Cancer Center Offers Free Community Tours during National Minority Cancer Awareness Week

Moffitts NMCAW Recognition Spans More Than A Week With Education Throughout the Month

TAMPA, Fla. (April 2, 2012) In recognition of National Minority Cancer Awareness Week (NMCAW), Moffitt Cancer Center will offer free health disparities community tours from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. April 17. NMCAW is recognized nationally during the third week of April to spotlight the impact of cancer on minority groups, as well as promote prevention and treatment options among populations at greater risk of developing cancer. Moffitts goal is to increase community awareness of cancer health disparities, providing education and offering resources to improve health outcomes. Highlights of the tour include health disparities education and awareness; remarks by Moffitt leadership; and information on clinical trials, language services and Moffitt Program for Outreach Wellness Education & Resources (M-POWER). In conjunction with the health disparities community tours, Moffitt will also host or participate in the following events throughout April: April 7 Community Conversations Radio Show, WTBN, 570 & 910 AM A radio show airing every Saturday exploring key topics that matter in the community, revolving around physical, mental, educational and economic health.
