A) What is the theme of your project? The theme of my project is all around the world.

In 3rd grade one of the topics is learning about different communities around the world. The art theme that will be covered is that students will be able to be creative and create their own brochure. B) State the standards to which your theme is aligned New York State standards: Standard 2 Key Idea 1: The study of world history requires an understanding of world cultures and civilizations, including an analysis of important ideas, social and cultural values, beliefs, and traditions. This study also examines the human condition and the connections and interactions of people across time and space and the ways different people view the same event or issue from a variety of perspectives. Key Idea 3: Study of the major social, political, cultural, and religious developments in world history involve learning about the important roles and contributions of individuals and groups. Common Core Standards: Cultures and civilizations What is a culture? People in world communities celebrate their accomplishments, achievements, and contributions. Communities around the world People of similar and different cultural groups often live together in world communities. Families in world communities differ from place to place. Beliefs, customs, and traditions in world communities are learned from others and may differ from place to place. Different events, people, problems, and ideas make up world communities. People in world communities may have different interpretations and perspectives about important issues and historic events. C) Describe the Learning Product your students will create and through the creation of which they will learn the content and skills youve identified as a goal. Each student will create a brochure on his or her country. The brochure will include facts about the country including information about its population, government, culture and more. They will create the brochure in pairs and do their own research about each country to find the information that will go in the brochure.

D) What Social Studies content and/or skills will they learn from your project? The social studies content they will learn is information about countries around the world such as the flag, history, government, clothing, foods and much more. They will also learn how to do their own research and create a brochure. E) What Arts content and/or skills will they learn from your project? The art content they will learn from our project is how to design the lay out of the brochure. They will also have a chance to draw their own pictures in the brochure or take pictures from the Internet and edit them. F) how might you determine if the students learn what youve intended them to? I can determine if the students learned what I have intended them by looking at their brochures. I can see if they followed the rubric and during the presentation I can question the students to see what objectives they learned. To make sure the students learn about the other students countries each student will present. The students will then write about two countries based on what they learned from their classmates.
