What did the Prophets teach?
All the Prophets taught about the belief in Almighty Allah,

and about the Religion of Allah. The people at the time of the

Prophet liked to do evil. In other words they did what their

desires made them feel like doing. That made them greedy, cruel

and unkind, It made them cheat and lie, and it made them do

many evil things.

The Prophet started teaching them that there is Almighty

God. We should follow His Religion and fear Him. They taught

about how to worship and pray God. They taught the people to

become nice and good, and to be kind and helpful and to speak

the truth and to do what they promise and to have good manners.

They taught the people to be careful and to avoid doing any evil.

Essentially, all the Prophets taught the same basic beliefs

about God and Islam. Those who followed the teachings of the

Prophets, became very good people. Almighty God was pleased

with them. When God is pleased with someone, He will make

him feel good, happy and a winner, especially in the Hereafter.

Glorious Qura'an
Obey Allay and his messenger.

Be good and courteous to parents.

Fight in the cause of Allah with your wealth and life.

All Muslims are brothers, so when there is discord between them, they

should be reconciled.

Allah considers only pious people to be superior to others.

Do not lie.

Fullyfil your promises. You have to account for them, an explanation will

be called for if promises are not fulfilled.

Do not abuse each other. Do not irritate others by nicknaming them.

Do not spy on others and speak ill of them in their absence.

Co-operate with others in doing good deeds and do not co-operate in

doing bad deeds.

You are the best community raised up for mankind. You enjoin

goodness.

Allah likes those who are very clean.

DUA

''O my Lord grant me more knowledge. O my Lord give us good in this

world and good in the Hereafter and defend us from the torment of fire.

O my Lord bestow on my parents your mercy, even as they cherish me

in childhood.''

Imam Malik (R.A.)

Andulus or Spain was a country hundreds of miles away in the

north-west in a different continent. Hazrat Yahya came all the way from

Abdulus. He stayed at Madina and took instructions from Imam Malik.

When Hazrat Yahya returned to Spain after completing his studies, the

ruler of Spain acknowledged him. Imam Yahya spread the knowledge of

the glorious Qur'an and Hadith far and wide in Spain. In addition to

Imam Yahya the other noted student of Imam Malik was Imam Shaf'ii.

Why is the Kalimah Unique?

Are you not aware how God sets forth the parable of kalimah

tayyibah? It is like a good tree-- firmly rooted, its branches reaching

into heaven. It gives its fruits every moment by the permission of its

Lord. So God sets forth parables unto men that they may think

themselves.

The parable of kalimah khabithah (evil word) is like a corrupt

tree-- uprooted from the earth, having no permanence.

God grants firmness unto those who have believed in the firm

word, in the present life and in the world to come, and the

wrongdoers He lets go astray. (Ibrahim 14: 24--7).

Wisdom and Understanding:

Allah tests your wisdom and understanding. You should

possess the proper understanding. You should be able to conclude

from all the evidence around you that none but Allah alone is your

Creator and Lord; no one but He can sustain you, hear your prayers

and help you. you should be able to recognize the revelation and

message which has come from Him. You should also be able to

distinguish between a true prophet and a false claimant to

prophethood. You should also be able to realize true guidance

from the false.

Only if you pass this test, Allah will include you in His party.

Moral Strength:

Then comes the second examination: Here your moral

strength is tested.

To show that you have the necessary moral strength, you

must demonstrate that, after having recognized and accepted truth.

You have the will to live by them and renounce the ways of

falsehood and evil. You must further prove that you are no more

slaves to your own desires, nor do you blindly follow the practices
    5   
and customs of your ancestors and families, the values and norms

of your cultures and societies. Neither should you knowingly accept

anything contrary to God's guidance, nor reject anything it tells you.

If you fail this examination you are refused admission into

Allah's party, for He picks only those whose definition is:

So whose ever rejects false gods and believes in God has

indeed taken hold of the most firm handle which shall never break

(al-Baarah 2: 256).

Obedience and Dutifulness

Once you pass this examination you appear in a third examination.

This time your obedience and sense of ddty are put top the test.

Here, you are told: whenever We call you, yu must come. Give up

the comfort of your sleep, and present yourself before Us. On Our

command remain hungry and thirsty from morning till evening. Give

up you pleasure, forgo your profits, sacrifice your interests, in all

circumstances, rush when summoned to duty. God's summons

must be answered, no matter whatever the odds, whatever the

temptations, however long and hard the road. If you fail this

examintions you are not worthy of God's trust.

A NOBLE TREE AND A EVIL TREE
Kalimah Tayyibah is likened to a noble tree, whose roots are

firmly fixed in the earth and whose branches reach to the sky;

and all the while it continues to yield abundant fruit, as commanded

by its Lord.

Set against it is the kalimah khabithah, that is, an evil or corrupt

word, a false belief and a baseless saying, which may be likened to

a self-seeded plant growing in poor, shallow earth and easily

plucked out with a single pull because its roots have no firm base.

FARDH and NAFIL

Salah is composed of the Fardh (Obligatory) and the Nafil

(superogatory) prayers.

The Fardh salah are five in a day. Failure to perform any one of

them is a blameable sin. The Nafil includes the sunnah, which the

Prophet used to perform regularly before or after each Fardh Salah.

PRAYER IN SPECIAL CIRCUMSTAENCES

In circumstances where it is not possible to pray, or when on

journey, you are permitted to shorten salah. Such a shourtened

prayer is known as Salatul-Qasr.

When travelling, one may offer two rakats in place of four

rakats in Zuhr, Asr and Isha, but there is no change in the

    7   
two rakats of Fajr and three rakats of Maghrib salah.

Besides the concession in Fardh salah, one may leave all

the sunnah, except the two sunnah rakats of Fajr and the

Witr of Isha prayer.

In case they stay at any one place during the journey

exceeds a fortnight, complete salah, with all the Fardh and

sunnah rakats, must be offered.

If you are sick, you may offer your salah in a sitting

position or lying in bed, by making signs in place of the

physical movements.

In journey, in sickness and in other emergencies, one

is also allowed to offer two separate salah jointly. Thus Zuhr

and Asr can be said together in the last part of the period of

Zuhr.

Maghrib and Isha may also be offered similarly

towards the end of the Maghrib time (when it is almost

dark).

Jannat Sand Tayyaba Fatima

The children of 1st standard of Makkah School were very happy as

they were well prepared for the competition. The next day, the hall was filled

ready to perform their part on the stage. Chief guest arrived and the

''The student gave a speech on Jannat and Dozak, and took us

There was silence in the hall. Everyone was astonished with the words of

Ahmed. The hall echoed with ''how can you say? what are you saying?

what's that? Ahmed said ''Please stop shouting. If you want to see the thing

of Jannat here, wait for 10 minutes. I will get it.'' Saying this he ran home and

came back after few minutes, holding something in his hand. The autdience

Tayyaba Fatima

Once a hungry lion, searched for his prey in the jungle, but failed to find out any.

The whole day passed, In the evening, when he was about to sleep, he saw a

cub(baby of a rabbit) on a hill. He ran towards it, but the cub ran away, when the

lion come towards it, it started saying ''O King'' of jungle! you are very big and I am

very small for you to fill your tummy. So, wait for one year. I will grow big and fat,

that time you can eat me. The lion agreed and thought that it was a best plan and

said ok. Do you promise that exactly after one year you will

come here? The cub replied ''yes, I promise you"". One

year passed. The lion happily came back to the same hill

where the cub promised to wait. Now, the cub was grown

into a big fat rabbit. The rabbit greeted the lion and said "O

my Lord! I am here in front of you, you can enjoy eating

me". The lion replied "I am very happy, you kept your promise".

"I am very big fan of you, I proudly say to my friends that you are brave and

very strong. I like your spirit but they say that their leader is strong as their leaders

have moved many big trees to the other places pulling with the rope, said the

rabbit. The Lion felt happy with the rabbit for praising him and said you go

and get the rope, tie it to the tree even I can move this big plant". The rabbit

said " I have already tied and the other end is here. Now if you say, I will tie it

around your neck". The Lion agrees and the rope was tightly tied around his

neck. When the rabbit asked to pull the tree, the rope got tightened and the

lion died. Thus, the rabbit was saved.

Intelligence is stronger than might.

Sacrifice of life
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came as a blessing to this world. His behaviour

was very good with other people. He preached goodness and prohibited evil.

Good people accepted him as messenger of Allah. Wicked people became

his enemies. They attacked him and his companions. Prophet Muhammad

and sahaba also set out to fight for Allah's sake. Some young boys also

joined them to fight their tormenters, but they were asked to return as they

were still very young. There was a boy named Rafe. When he was not

allowed, he stood on his tiptoes to appear tall. Seeing his eagerness, Prophet

Muhammad allowed him to accompany the army. Another boy Samra also

insisted saying that he can throw down Rafe in a wrestling match so even he

should be allowed to join the army to fight the non-believers. Thus, both the

boys wrestled and Samra really did throw down Rafe on his back. He got the

permission and very happilly joined the army to fight in the way of Allah.
