Prajna Metta Karuna People naturally fear misfortune and long for good fortune; but if the distinction

is carefully studied, misfortune often turns out to be good fortune and good fortune to be misfortune. The wise men learns to meet the changing circumstances of life with an equitable spirit, being neither elated by success nor depressed by failure. Thus one realizes the truth of non-duality.

Happiness follows sorrow, sorrow follows happiness, but when one no longer discriminates between happiness and sorrow, a good deed and a bad deed, one is able to realize freedom. The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live wisely and earnestly for the present. Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

The mind is a mere label, and it is nothing other than a label. Recognize awareness as a mere label. Moreover, a label has no intrinsic nature.

The nature of the mind-itself is empty, but not like an empty cave, for it is the very nature of samsara and nirvana.

As long as you are alive, conceptualization will continue to arise, and the correct response to that is nongrasping: whatever thoughts arise, virtuous or nonvirtuous, look at them and recognize their nature, but dont grasp onto them. Recognize that they are incapable of either harming or benefiting you. Just observe them arise and pass away, naturally.

Thoughts are primordially unestablished, they have no basis in reality and therefore it is inappropriate to grasp onto them. All appearances of samsara and nirvana and all appearances of impure and pure realms are self-appearing, All signs naturally appear and naturally vanish of their own accord, like clouds in the sky. Because the nature of the entire phenomenal world of samsara and nirvana is empty of substantiality, there is emptiness of phenomena.

You shouldnt chase after the past or place expectations on the future. What is past is left behind. The future is as yet unreached. Whatever quality is present you clearly see right there, right there Not taken in , unshaken, thats how you develop the heart.

All that is subject to arising is subject to cessation.

Let your mind make excursion with whatever may happen. Let yourself accept whatever may happen. Let yourself accept what is necessary and inevitable in order to cultivate you spirit. This is the perfect way There is nothing better to leave all to destiny, although this is not easy. Death and life, existence and peril, ill and good fortune, wealth and poverty, worth and worthlessness, praise and blame, hunger and thirst, cold and hot- these are changes of events and operation of destiny. They succeed one another like the alternation of day and night; knowledge knows not where they begin. One should not allow such things to enter ones mind. One s mind must be harmonious, content and complete.
