I copied a picture from an online source and placed it into an AI document. I made the image less visible with the opacity tool so that it was easier to trace. Then I began to use the vector point tool and pencil tool to paint in various shades of blacks and whites on the image. I also used the gradient tool.
COMPOSITION
Because the image was black and white it would appear to be easier to find the light and dark areas, but it did have its challenges. I chose an image that mainly showed Michelle's face because I wanted that to be the focus. The vector tool and pencil tool were most effective in tracing the light and dark areas although on this draft I was not as detailed!
CONCEPT
I chose Michelle because she is someone that I look up to and I wanted the image to show her in a different, softer tone. She is not as easily recognizable as some other people, but she does have very strong features. If captured right they clearly make her known.

CRAFT:
I used AI, two different paint brush tools, the monochromatic color settings, other colors from the wheel, the eye dropper tool, and shapes.
First Lady Michelle Obama is from Chicago and still strongly advocates for inner city issues.
: A majority of the image variations were done randomly. A few of the images I created really had conceptual meaning. For the last image, the brush that created a skyline border around the image because Michelle Obama is from Chicago and still strongly advocates for inner city issues.
CONCEPT
COMPOSITION
: The assignment was for us to use slight changes and extreme changes in the paint brush and also in the colors. I wanted to use brushes and colors that created a change, but not too much of a change so that Michelle was still identifiable. The first image change was simple I changed the color to monochromatic which created various shades of brown and grey. For the third image I used a monochromatic color and a paint brush that created a cracked effect For the last image I used a paint brush that looked like a skyline as border and changed the color. I had to play around with the intensity of the paintbrush to get this effect. 7

CRAFT
I used the AI program, a bamboo tablet, and the pen tool to create. Before creating the images I practiced using the pen tool by scribbling on the blank canvas.
I placed the vessel images at the center of the page so they could be the main focus and I used a medium size pen because that was what was easiest to work with. I only used lines in a horizontal or vertical direction to create the shapes. I also used various colors at random that did not necessarily reflect the colors of the image.
Composition
This assignment was used to practice using the pen tool, get more of an idea of light vs. dark, and learn how to create 3D images of various vessels.

VESSELS

10
I used Adobe Illustrators paint brush tool and a bamboo with pen tablet to draw these vessels. My first step was to create the overall shape of the image and then focus on details.
CRAFT:
: I used empty vessels as the subject. The idea was to show density and shdaows to get as close to the real image as possible.
CONCEPT
I used shades of grey, black, and white. I drew in only horizontal and vertical lines with varies point sizes. I used lighter colors to put emphasis on areas that the light especially hit. This style of drawing and shadowing have a 3D effect.

CRAFT:
My digital camera & Adobe InDesign was used to create this image. First, I transformed the entire color of the image into black & white. Then, I colored only the purse and a scarf at the lower bottom in its natural state.
: I wanted to create a shot that looked fashionable and urban. This image was a true representation of my friend Jasmie. The blue purse was the sthandout item in this play with colors.
CONCEPT
COMPOSITION
I took this picture while slanting the camera to create a sige angle. Doing that created more tension in the image and helped as a vector around the subject. The eye is led down towards the purse.

For this image I used three of my rings on a table, my pearl necklaces, and my digital camera. I used the brightness tool in Adobe Lightroom
CRAFT:
COMPOSITION:
The necklaces were placed on the table as a background of the image and the three things were located in the middle as the focus. I placed the camera on the table for it to be in the same level as the objects. I also used the time tool so that the camera wouldnt have to move while the picture was being taken.
CONCEPT:
The idea of this image came from a scripture that says that faith, hope, & love last forever. I used jewelery as my subject to create a sense of antique elegance.

For this image I used my digital camera and the brightness and contrast tool in Adobe Bridge .
CRAFT:
I was inspired by the contrast of my boots design and the puddle to create this image. I love brght colors and this picture captures a little of me.
CONCEPT:
COMPOSITION:
This image was taken with me standing up and looking down at my feet over the colorful creation of recent rain and light chemistry. I wanted the focus to be the boots and the puddle. The center position of the boots makes the viewer feel like they are in the position.

A series of photos were taken as Brittney enjoys a journey to the Shedd Aquarium.

My digital camera & the brightness and contrast tools were used to create these images.
CRAFT:
The images show a journey of Brittney going to the Shedd Aquarium. They also were captured to show her joy in the little things.
CONCEPT:
Every image has Brittney in movement approaching the Aquarium. I purposely didnt focus on Brittneys face, but on various shots of her body to get her in action.

ROOTED
I took this image with my subject Brittney, looking ahead and with the tree and the skyline ahead of her. The idea was to get the viewer to eventually look ahead at what Brittney was looking at. There is a feeling of movement in the image and a few different layers of color and subject.
COMPOSITION:
This image was a side close up of Brittney, I took this as she was walking in her natural state. The tree and the skyline of downtown represent Brittneys love for scenery and Chicago.

The focus of this image was her eyes and the tape. Somehow, the eyes portray a message on their own.
