Responsibilities Primarily, the school psychologist is a Learning Leader, with responsibility for facilitating both the understanding of individual

learning needs and supporting teachers in implementing strategies so that all students can access the ISB curriculum. The educational psychologist is an essential part of the multidisciplinary learning support team school-wide.

Responsibilities include:
Educational and psychological support that facilitates understanding, acceptance and effective work with students who learn differently will include: Advising, and supporting teachers, students and parents in alignment with the needs of the child and the school mission Administering formal assessments including o Parent intake process o Teacher consultations o Student observations o Follow up with student, family and teaching team o Creation of follow up report Some assessments may need to be offered outside of school hours given student needs. Some flexibility in school hours will be required. Attending child study or student study team meetings involving multidisciplinary teams on how best to meet the social, emotional, behavioral and learning needs of the of students Developing and supporting therapeutic and behavior management programs when needed Work beginning two weeks before school starts to facilitate support of new families, screening and learning support start up. Contributing to the development and review of policies of the learning support department with the head of learning support.

Being on call in the event of a crisis Collaborating on the development of informal assessment tools and the results of such tools in student learning and help teachers analyze the results of assessment to help determine to what extent learning standards are being achieved Meeting regularly with LS department faculty, and the counseling team to ensure coherence and support of programs Keeping up-to-date on curriculum developments Participating me of the school wide crisis management team Managing a billing record, for student evaluations Facilitating and coordinating the use of an external specialist who will provide supervision to the counseling team As this is a new faculty leadership team position, we anticipate that its responsibilities would continue to evolve under the umbrella of leadership as we develop systems, and clarify a more coherent counseling program campus wide.

Keeping abreast of school development in curriculum and procedures Relationship Building skills Collaborating with multiple teachers on the supporting student learning and teacher professional development school-wide Acting as a resource of disability expertise and theories of pedagogy in working with students with special needs for colleagues, students and parents Ensuring the effective integration of new department members Providing ongoing, proactive curricular guidance and support for new department members Supporting the professional development of department members
