Dying to Live is a profound look at the human face of the migrant. It explores who those people are, why they leave their homes, and what they face on their journey. This explores the places of conflict, pain, and hope along the US Mexico Border. It is a reflection of human struggle for a more dignified life and search to find God in the midst of it all. Join us Sunday, May 6th 1-3pm In the Paulist Center for light refreshment, conversation and the viewing of this 33 minute film. A free will offering is to benefit the Oregon New Sanctuary movement.

Greetings! FR. Michael Evernden, CSP

Thank You
Thank you, thank you to all the volunteers who helped with Holy Week! You are a truly giving community of people! Several visitors commented on the warmth and goodness that they felt in sharing the Triduum with us. You have succeeded in letting people know that God indeed is present among us! And we especially say Thank you to Bari Columbari who stepped in (as music coordinator/pianist/organist) and arranged all of the Holy Week music. Grace is everywhere
Love can happen only in realms of freedom. Without inner freedom on both sides there can be no true love relationshiponly duty, fear, or obligation. So it is all a matter of growing in freedom, which could be called growing in grace. Gods love is perfectly free. It is not coerced by any of our good actions, nor can we lose it because of our bad actions. We are stuck with it and cannot increaseor decreaseGods love for us by anything we do or dont do. This is Gods eternal covenant with the soul. God does not love us because God has to; God loves us because God wants to. This frees us to simply receive that love, rather than feverishly try to make ourselves worthy of it. All you can pass on is what you have become; that is your blessing and gift for your children, your loved ones, your neighborhood, and the next generation, grace upon grace (John 1:16). Divine love bestowed is repaid by love alone. Our lives seem small and insignificant, yet one life is a significant piece of the eternal and cosmic Christ, a short moment of Incarnation that is building up the Body of God. You belong to Gods universe because everything belongs. Every part of you belongs, and no part need be rejected or denied, but only educated, healed, forgiven, and set free in new form. . . . Nothing is ever wasted in Gods economy. All is transformed. Grace is everywhere.

Health & Nutrition

In partnership with Ecumenical Ministries of Oregons Interfaith Food and Farms Partnership project, this week we are focusing on Food Justice Food Justice seeks to ensure that the benefits and risks of where, what, and how food is grown, produced, transported, distributed, accessed and eaten are shared fairly. It represents a transformation of the current food system, including elimination of disparities and inequities, and seeks to ensure that we care for our neighbors and for our land. The most basic form of care to ensure that the food we grow and the land we use is treated with respect to guarantee its capability to grow an abundance of food. The harvest of our land is a gift that is meant to be shared with one another, not just a privileged few.

Peace, Fr. Michael Evernden, CSP
