Run Commands - Opening a program without having to go to the Start Menu (PC) or applications folder/dock (Mac) is a nice timesaver. On the Mac, simply press Space to open Spotlight and begin typing the name of the application. Select the one you want from the list that appears and press return to launch. On a windows machine you have to know the proper name of the application to use the run command (Win+R). Below is a list of the ones I use the most (this is on Windows XP... possibly they made it more intuitive on later versions). Press Win+R to open the run dialogue box and then type whats in the type this... column to open the desired application.

Type This... 1 calc 2 winword 3 powerpnt 4 chrome 5 safari 6 refox 7 appwiz.cpl Calculator Word PowerPoint Chrome Safari Firefox
