GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF SEMINAR OBJECTIVES: 1. Learning to learn skills/independent study skills 2. Literature research/information gathering techniques 3. Report writing skills 4. Communication/reasoning skills IMPLEMENTATION

Students shall select a topic on emerging technologies or problem faced by industry/community and other allied problems in his branch of study and get it approved by In-charge of the Seminar

Topic shall be based on leading journal/research papers/latest technologies. They shall prepare and submit draft write up to the In-Charge at least three days before the date of presentation.

Copy of one page abstract (approved by the in charge) shall be prepared and submitted to all the faculty present at the beginning of the presentation. The candidate should also produce a draft report duly signed by the Head of the Department.

Each student shall be given 15-20 minutes for presentation, followed by discussions for 5 minutes.

The PPT shall be prepared with the minimum font size shall be 24. All figures/graphs/videos in presentation shall be titled and properly referenced.

One of the students from the audience may be randomly selected and may be asked to brief and comment about the seminar in 5 minutes.

The final report shall be prepared and submitted at the time of presentation, provided the seminar is approved.

Guidelines shall be strictly followed for preparation of the report. All suggestions and corrections recommended by the faculty shall be incorporated in the final report.

Soft Copy of the Report as well as presentation shall be submitted to the In-charge of seminar after the completion (In CD).

Submit two copies of the report and get one copy back after certified by the faculty and the Head of the Dept.

Guidelines to Seminar Report Writing When in education, you need to convey your work in a succinct and structured manner to your assessors. This can make a difference to the outcome of your degree classification. When at work, all engineers need to communicate with others in an unambiguous manner. This can have a profound effect upon successful completion of many projects, where teams of engineers are involved. Good report writing can make a difference in your career progression. Acknowledgements In the seminar report, acknowledgement shall be given for all the people who have helped in your seminar. In a laboratory report, coursework report, this is not the usual practice. The Index of Contents
List the contents of the report, chapter by chapter with page numbers,

wherever you have used a new heading in your text. Make sure that each section, sub-section, etc is numbered in a logical manner: e.g. Section 1: Introduction 1.1- Problem Definition 1.1.1- Unbalanced modes 1 2 3

5 Marks for attendance 10 Marks for Seminar report

Marks may be awarded on the basis of following criteria Originality of the report Conformity of guidelines Quality of the report Punctuality in submission 5 Marks Selection of Topic Awarded on the basis of Relevance and recency of the topic to ranch/specialisation of study
5 Marks for Literature

Maximum marks may be awarded for the literature obtained from journals and classic text books and minimum marks for that collected only from the internet
5 Marks for abstract

Awarded on the basis of Motivation Statement of problem Approach Results Conclusions


15 Marks for presentation

Marks may be awarded on the basis of following criteria Style of presentation Clarity of presentation Organisation of the presentation Time management Audience interest created Quality and quantity of information passed 5 Marks for defense Awarded on the basis of his attitude shown in giving answers to the questions.
