Prince

Georges Community College (PGCC) forward John Savoy, Jr., effortlessly knocks down a 3-pointer.

The Quiet Assassin

John Savoy, Jr., No. 23, a 6 6, 190-pound forward, with the ability to dominate on both ends of the court, with a wingspan of 6 9, a vertical leap of approximately 38 to 39, and a shooting range of 6 feet from beyond the arc. Strategically coined the next pure shooter to come out of the Maryland and D.C. area, John Savoy, Jr., exhibits a keen ability to come off the bench and knock down shots. In a game against St. Marys College, Savoy led the Prince Georges Owls by scoring 8 points in the last 4 minutes of the first quarter. Also, in a game against Hagerstown Community College (ranked No. 1 in MD JUCO), Savoy entered with 8 minutes left in the first half to help close a 30-19 gap. At the half, he led the owls with 8 points and finished as the top PGCC scorer with 16 points; hitting four 3-pointers, a career-high. With a high-level basketball IQ, Savoy can play all five positions if needed. He is able to dominate from within the paint, shoot from beyond the arc fluently, and knock down mid-range shots. Extremely

versatile, possessing quickness and finesse, with the ability to take a defender off the dribble, like Kevin Durant. He also has the ability to dominate defensively, by blocking shots and capitalizing on defensive and offensive rebounds. This kid has no weaknesses! I guess this is because since he started walking he has had a basketball in his hands. Groomed from the time he was a child, Savoy has been mentored and trained by his father John Savoy, who in his own right was an exceptional ball player. Following in his fathers footsteps, John Savoy, Jr., is ready to reignite the torch. You might be asking yourself, well if this kid is so great, why are we just hearing about him? History has shown that the best and greatest players tend to be those who werent always on the radar. Xavier Joyner, the Owls head coach had already selected his team for the 2011-2012 season. When Savoy arrived for tryouts, he left an undeniable impression on the Owls coaching staff. Savoy truly has something special! Hes got the talent, as mentioned by coaching staff, athletic trainers, and former Maryland basketball player, Johnny Rhodes. Awards and Accomplishments: Most Improved player, which he received from Surrattsville High School and Best Defensive Player, received from Maryland Universitys Basketball Camp, during the summer of 2009.
