(CACTX) celebrates National Child Abuse Prevention Month with the development of new corporate partnerships and the continuation of existing relationships and projects. CACTX is celebrating the national launch of the award-winning One With Courage campaign (www.onewithcourage.org) this month, with the campaigns rollout in over 25 states across the nation. This campaign was developed in Texas in 2011 to highlight the courage that it takes to talk about child sexual abuse, including both the courage it takes for child victims to talk about their abuse and the courage it takes adults to talk about the issue and will launch across the nation this month in recognition of April Child Abuse Prevention Month. One With Courage contributes to the child abuse prevention movement because it not only focuses on how to recognize the signs of child abuse, but also how to report suspected abuse. One With Courage, was part of a joint project of the Office of the Attorney General, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Time Warner Cable, SnapNames.com and CACTX. The statewide and national rollout of this campaign would not be possible without the continued support of these public and private partners. Most recently CACTX received a generous donation of cable advertising time from Time Warner Cable, who in conjunction with CACTX, is devoted to educating the community on how to prevent child abuse and support the fundamental and life-saving services provided by childrens advocacy centers. Thanks to this gift, the campaign will be running on Time Warner Cable in Texas throughout the month of April. Childrens Advocacy Centers of Texas, Inc. has also recently acquired an additional domain name for the campaign, www.onewithcourage.com, through the generosity of SnapNames.com, an online domain name marketplace located in Portland, Oregon. CACTX is pleased to partner with the corporate community in these and many other outreach and awareness efforts. A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control found the total lifetime estimated financial costs associated with just one year of confirmed cases of child maltreatment (physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse and neglect) is approximately $124 billion. Ending child abuse is a community responsibility and we are grateful to each of these entities for their shared belief in our mission. Texas leads the nation in the number of operating childrens advocacy centers, serving child victims of sexual and physical abuse and child witnesses to violent crime. There are 65 childrens advocacy centers in Texas. Last year almost 40,000 child victims received critical services at a childrens advocacy center in Texas.
