1 Text: Psalms 27 Subject: Let Your Faith Do the Talking.

Prayer: Spirit of the living God, Fall down on me, Adonai, You are my Lord and my Savior, without you I can do nothing. So, as I stand before these Your people I humbly ask that You magnify that part of you that you placed in me so that only You can be seen and only Your Words can be heard. God I thank you for being the preacher in me. Lord send Your Anointing that brings healing, not just of the body, but healing for the mind, healing for broken hearted, and most of all healing for our sin sick souls. Send Your Anointing Lord. This I ask in the name of Your begotten Son in the name of Jesus. Amen.

This familiar text and beautiful text was already read in your hearing. But for the sake of deeper level of understanding, I would like to read the New International Version of the text. From this text I am lifting the subject Let your faith do the talking As I studied for this sermon the Holy Spirit directed me to consider the author of this very familiar psalm, David. And I researched the life of one of Gods most dynamic servants, I discovered two things. One, David was a highly gifted, mighty man of God. As a boy, he defeated a giant named Goliath with a rag, 5 rocks, and a great faith in his God. Two, David had issues. You remember the story of David and Bathsheba and for that sin God told David that the sword would never leave his house. If you dont know what that means then let me break it down for you David always had trouble in his way. David had issues but God still used him. But in spite of his shortcomings, David had one major thing going for him was he knew how to repent. David would passionately repent. He was a passionate worshipper. David knew better than anyone how to praise and worship God. David praised God when he had nothing. As a shepherd boy he wrote beautiful songs and danced before the Lord. And when God made him king of all of Israel David still wrote beautiful songs and danced before the Lord. Why? Because David was an awesome worshipper with awesome faith. David had enormous problems, and immense issues, and endured tremendous trails, but no matter what David went through, he always kept an attitude of praise and faith in God. One thing we can still learn from

2 David almost 3000 years later is if you want a great blessing then have great faith and give God some great praise. Now as we look at this text Psalm 27, David begins this worship session by acknowledging and proclaiming who God is in his life. He says, The Lord is my Light and my Salvation. David acknowledges Gods place as Sovereign Creator and Keeper of his life, the Lord is my Light and David expresses his faith that God will take care of him, and my Salvation. Now notice I say he acknowledges Gods place. Thats because whether you acknowledge Him or not God is still God. Hes still the Most High. He is still the Creator. He is still Sovereign. He is still God. So whether we choose to give God the glory or not God will still be praised. He said if you dont praise Me, Ill make the rocks cry out. All of the universe proclaims My Glory. The angels sing and announce who I am. So I had to come to the realization in my own life that God does not need me to do anything. He doesnt need me to sing or to preach. I believe God likes for me to sing and I pray that He is pleased when I preach but the reality is God doesnt need anybody to do anything Hes God. He got somebody right now drunk sleeping under a bridge somewhere that He can call out and set free that will out sing me, out shout me, out preach me, and out praise me. Praise and worship is for me, for the healing my soul. Its for the renewal of my spirit. Praising and worshiping God helps me because my God is the King of kings and the Lord of lords and He doesnt need anybodys help. And see David understood that. It was David who wrote in thy presence [is] fullness of joy; at thy right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore. Tell your neighbor do yourself a favor and give God some praise. Getting back to text, David goes on to say the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. David is expressing his confidence that God will deliver him. Hes saying God, I believe You.

3 So when the enemy attacks, when the devil is after your home, when the creditors are calling you, when the haters on your job have set you up to bring you down, start praising God with confidence because God will protect you. No matter what the situation looks like, say God I believe You, no matter what the circumstances are, say God I trust You, no matter what the doctors report, you say God I believe Your report. No matter what my friends may say, I say God, my faith is in You. So, tell the nay-sayers in your life, you all keep laughing and Im gone keep dancing. Though He slay me Yet shall I trust Him. Ill let my faith do the talking. So, in this psalm David is letting his faith do the talking. We can see in the text that once again David is in trouble. His enemies are coming after him, false witnesses are rising up against him, but all though the psalm David is expressing his expectation, his confidence that God will deliver. David fully expects God to rescue him from this situation. He says I am still confident of this; I will see, not I have seen but I will see, the goodness of the Lord while I am in the land of the living. And as I kept reading this scripture over and over, there was something very familiar about this passage. Then the Holy Spirit said flip over to Hebrews 11:1, and directed me to the New Living Translation which reads What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. This psalm expresses Davids assurance, Davids confidence, Davids faith, that God is able. You all dont seem convinced so let me make it plain. If faith had a voice it would sound like praise. Praise is the verbal and physical expression of faith. If I dont have faith, then I dont have a praise. If I dont believe God gave me the job, I dont praise Him when the check comes. If dont believe God is keeping me in my right mind, then I praise on my lips. If I dont believe that God has forgiven me of my sins, then my guilt restrains my praise. But if I believe what He said, that He is Jehovah Jireh, God our Provider, then every time I go to work my faith says Hallelujah. If I know Him to be Jehovah Shalom, the Lord is our Peace, then every time I think about Him my faith says Praise the Lord. If I know it was God that watched over me last night, held back the death angel, and touched me this morning with a finger of love, then my faith says when I woke up this

4 morning I didnt have no doubt. If I trust that Jesus died for my sins and washed me whiter than snow, then my faith says I know it was the Blood. I didnt see it but I believe it. So, Ill let my faith do the talking. Now if you really want a double blessing go ahead do as David did, Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. God said I was raising a prophet, a miracle in plain sight. I dont know when Hes going to it. But my faith says I trust in the Lord. Pastor, God said we were going to build a church. He gave you the vision. So when start saying How you gone do that? let your faith say My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Blood and Righteousness. Let your faith do the talking. Jesus said if I be lifted up from the earth Ill draw all men unto me. So they hung Him high, on a tree called Calvary, they stretched Him wide, they hammered the nails in His hands and His feet. They tell me two thieves were nailed beside Him, One of them had no faith and said if you be the Christ save us and save yourself but the other thief cried out to Jesus and said Lord, Remember me when You come into Your Kingdom. And 2000 years later our faith says He will remember me. Then Jesus went down to Satans living room. Whipped Satan in his own house, snatched the keys to death, destruction, and the grave. I didnt see Him do it. But my faith says Im free. Praise the Lord. Im free. They tell me on the 3rd day Jesus got up from the grave with all power in His hands. They didnt believe poor Mary Magdalene when she said the Lord Jesus has risen. But my faith says, He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today. Jesus said And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back, and take you to be with me I dont know when Hes coming back but my faith says by and by when the morning comes, when all the saints of God are gathered home. Well tell the story how we overcome and well understand it better by and by.
