DearEveryone, At first take my salaam and greetings.

I would like to share a very important warning with you in regard to ALICO Insurance Company Bangladesh Ltd such that next time if you want to open an insurance policy you think twice before you commit to such investments. I opened a health policy with ALICO on 2008 using one of their agents who dealswithNSUaccountsknownas"Mr.Monsur". ThisJanuary2009whenIwasdiagnosedwithHodgekinLymphomaCancer(Stage2)Imadeaclaimon my policy. At the same time my premium payment arrived and during my chemotherapy accordingly I signed a cheque with the required premium amount and also completed my claim form and submitted it to Monsur from my home. A point to be mentioned here is that when I opened the policy Monsur told me I do not have to worry for the premium payment and welfare of my policy as an agent it is his duty or part of the service. However, as I was ill there was a little discrepancy with my signature and the bank did not honor the cheque and the premium payment was not done. Normally if a premium deadline is missed the company provide a 30 day grace period. All these happened and that Monsur did not informed me anything. He waited for the 30 day grace period to pass out such that the policy became lapsed. Then he submitted my claim form such that I do not receive my claim (as company rule states no claim to be provided for lapsed policy). Monsur who knew all these facts ensured that I miss my claim. The thing is if Monsur informed me that my cheque for the premium was not honored within the grace period which he could have done easily as he came to know just seven days after the cheque was not honored, I could have rewritten him a new cheque and could have saved my policy. But that weasel Monsur ensured I miss out on my claim, the reason so that he can show his agency he has saved money for the company and ask for reward, etc. When Monsur came to me and told me my claim not granted I became very angry and told him I want to close my policy and get back the money I paid so far. He then told me that I cannot close my policy, the reason being that no one can close policy for the first 3 years, a very important and sensitive information that he hid from me whenIopenedthepolicy. Every semester beginning Monsur the weasel roams around our NSU looking for the new faculties to get them open an insurance policy or those faculties and staff members who have not yet opened the policy. He will come to you and will say ALICO is a good investment, by opening this policy you will have the benefit of taxreturn so and so. Believe me the taxreturn is not a huge amount at the end of the day, but he will never tell you the process of terminating the policy and will try to influence to fell into the ALICO trap, as more we open policy via him the more commissions he receives from ALICO. My suggestion to all of you if you have not opened the ALICO policy is to think twice before opening this policy talk with people who understands the financial investment world, your parents and love one etc then decide. To those who have fallen

into the ALICO trap like me well, if possible close your policy retrieve the money and put it in a bank's deposit account or buy government bond from post office which is much more safe and reliable investment. Oh, one more thing even if your policy has maturity of 3 years i.e. you are able to close the policy, ALICO will deduct 35% of your premium prior returning the money to you, this is also a valuable information that the weasel Monsur hid from me during the time when I was opened the policy. As for Monsur well he is a "weasel" in one word and my opinion is he should not be allowed to enter our NSU and roam around in the faculty office areas which he still does in our new campus very easily and frequently without any security clearance or so and should be simply kicked out of NSU next time when he enters. As for my policy I have decided not to pay any more premium to them as the more I will pay the more my loss will increase so I have simply stopped my premium and considered myoneyearpremiumpaymentasalossinvestmentorforegone. Thank you all and my apology if I have wasted your valuable time with this lengthy emailbutIfeltitwasnecessary. Regards, AbdullahAlFaruq Lecturer SchoolofBusinesss NorthSouthUniversity
