Dear Families: It is with pleasure that I welcome you to my class.

Working together we can help your child achieve personal and academic success this school year. In order to provide all students with a positive and safe educational experience, the following classroom management plan will be used in our class: Rules: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Keep hands, feet, and objects to self Follow directions. Walk quietly everywhere. Use quiet voices at all times. Talk politely.

Rewards: Students who make positive choices will be rewarded with a variety of incentives. Some include: Verbal positive reinforcement Stickers on positive behavior sheet/ Blue star ticket School token Positive note or phone call home Treats such as raisins, popcorn, cheerios, etc. Sunshine Surprise Consequences:

1st Time: Teacher will give a verbal warning (no color change) 2nd Time: 5 minutes time out in our classroom (move name to yellow) 3rd Time: Removal from activity or group with time out in another class; then teacher will conference with student and contact parent. (move name to orange) 4th Time: Time out in the office. Behavior is documented with BRT and a parent is alerted with note or phone call home immediately. (move name to red)

* Severe Disruption: The student will be sent to the Behavioral Resource Teacher (BRT).

Students begin each day on green and may move their name up to blue when demonstrating role model behavior. Any student on blue at the end of the day will earn a school token or may choose to use blue tickets earned in the classroom to 'purchase' a reward item from our classroom store. Students making positive choices and ending the day on green may earn an incentive such as a sticker, stamp, blue star ticket and/or verbal praise. Each day your child will bring home their S.T.A.R binder. Inside is a daily log with a sentence or two about the day written by him or her. Additionally, there will be a colored dot that reflects the behavior choices made for both the morning and afternoon. Please look at this binder daily, initial in the box, and return the next morning.

Blue- I am a role model student Green- I made good behavior choices today. Yellow- I needed 5 minutes time out. Orange- I had trouble meeting expectations today. Red- I made poor behavior choices today. Looking forward to a wonderful school year! Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Although we will be reviewing this management plan frequently in our classroom, please discuss our rules, rewards and consequences with your child to make sure he or she understands their importance.
