Understanding and Analysing Population Pyramids: Scaffold sheet

Your country: Japan Describe population pyramid - 2000 Describe population pyramid - 2025

This is a Stationary population pyramid in Japan, 2000. Japan in 2000 represents a high income country, because the working class is from ages 1564, and there are around 3.0 4.8 million people in the working class. By looking at this graph, Japan has a less birth rate; It is because most women in Japan are working. The death rate in Japan isnt a lot, because they are old people living for a longer age, so that also means that Japans life expectancy is higher and the dependency ratio is the middle, they are old people living and there are around 2.0-3.6 million children who depend on someone for their daily necessitates.

This is a Stationary population pyramid in Japan, 2025. Japan in 2025 represents a very high income rate, the working class, 15-64 has more than 4 million people working and there are many women who are working. Which then leads to Birth rate, not a lot of babies are being born, around 2 million babies, boys and girls, are born. Which also leads to life expectancy, there are a lot of old people living for a longer time, which also then leads to the dependency ratio in Japan. It will be a lot higher, because they are about 0.5 4.5 million old people living, and the ages below have to depend on their parents. Also there are a lot of old women people living for a longer time than men.

Compare and contrast the two pyramids, and offer possible reasons for the changes in the population By looking at the two different population charts, there are a lot of differences and changes happen during the years 2000 2025. The similarities that I have seen, was that Japan has a very low birth-rate, the maximum babies are born is around 3 million, perhaps this is because most women are working, and they dont have time to produce children or they dont want to waste all their hard work on a child that they produced. The differences that I have discovered were that they are a lot more old people living for a longer time in 2025, this might be because, they are either working for someone or a job, like a business, and they know much better and they earn a lot of money for the business. Also another difference I had discovered was that they are a lot more women in 2025, than 2000, perhaps this is because, more and more women are starting to work.

Problems that these changes might cause for the country in the future The Birth rate might cause a problem for Japan, because as you see the graphs, the birth rate from 2000 was around 3 million and then 2025 birth rate was around 2 million. So in 100 years an average birth rate would be only 1 million and that might cause a problem because the population of japan will drop and once all the old people die, they wont have many people to replace them.
