Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing in response to your advertisement in The Times newspaper yesterday for the position of executive

secretary. I enclose a copy of my CV as requested and I would like to briefly explain why I am suitable for the job. I recently graduated from the Miami School for Secretaries with a diploma in secretarial skills. Prior to this I worked in several large companies in New York and Chicago as an office clerk and assisted the secretaries in many areas of their work. I am hard working, well organized and have a polite telephone manner. I feel I will be a good member of your team if you decide to take me on. Yours faithfully, Grace Comings. Package holidays, vacations where everything is included, are becoming increasingly popular. Everything is prepared for you. Once you get to the airport, it is up to the tour guide to see that you get safely to your destination. On the tour you make friends and have a good time but there is very little chance that you will get to know the local people. This is even more likely on a bus tour, when you spend most of your time traveling. Of course, there are carefully planned stops for you to visit historic buildings and places of interest. You may visit the historic, the beautiful, the ancient but time is always limited. There is always another disadvantage of having to spend your holiday with a group of people you have never met before. This means that you can be stuck with a group of people you have nothing in common with and no shared interests other than the fact that you are having the same holiday together. Many people do make good friends on package holidays and this friendship can last for many years with many friends keeping in touch when they return home. The general consensus is that most jobs have become more demanding, with longer hours, and greater pressures. When pressure builds up, its easy to feel overwhelmed by work and this can produce feelings of stress. More and more people want to get away from what is called the rat race of the treadmill, the feeling that work is too competitive, and are looking for lifestyles that are less stressful. A whole 'stress industry' has grown up, with its stress counselors and stress therapists giving advice on how to avoid stress and how to lessen its effect. Whatever the truth, people love to talk about the stress of their work. Our living and working conditions may put us under stress. Overcrowding in large cities, traffic jams, competition for jobs, uncertainty about the future, any big change in our lives, may be stressful. If you have moved house or changed jobs in recent months you are more likely to become ill than if you haven't. Dear Mr. Simons, Thank you for your enquiry dated 7th October regarding the possibility of employment at our company. Let me answer a few of your questions. Current positions I can see from your resume that you have a range of different skills. We are currently looking for someone to fill in the assistant manager position at our Norwich branch. I will forward your application form to the HR manager at that branch. Salary structure Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with any details of our salary structure as each position is paid differently depending on qualifications and experience. If we are able to offer you a position at our company we will then be able to negotiate a suitable monthly rate of pay. Sincerely, John Grants. According to the Chinese calendar, the year you were born may decide your personality. There are twelve different animals with many different kinds of personality. For example, somebody born in the year of the Pig will be smart and caring. Somebody born in the year of the Dragon will be very helpful to their friends.

Hong Kong is a very modern city with a large population. Two years ago a famous fun park was opened just outside the city center. This place attracts hundreds of visitors each day and has really helped improve the local economy in the past year. Womens role in society has gone through major changes in recent years. What exactly are the roles women should play in society? Some people say they should stay at home, raising children and taking care of their husbands. Some people argue that the only careers women can choose are as nurses, teachers and secretaries because they are the most suitable for them. As a matter of fact, women in a modern society are playing more and more important roles. They can be, in addition to those traditional careers, astronauts, scientists, politicians, entrepreneurs and so on. They are doing what men are doing now. The concept that women hold up half the sky is generally accepted. Though, in some countries, after giving birth to a baby a woman might stay at home and bring up the child, she tends to go back to work after the child is independent. Women in many countries are an indispensable labor force in the present world. Without fur or hair most mammals would be pretty uncomfortable. That's because a furry covering shields mammals' bodies from the weather, keeping them warm and dry - sort of like your clothes do for you. Elephants, rhinos, and hippos don't have fur. They all live in hot places, where the important thing is to keep cool. Being practically hairless is one way these animals deal with the heat. They use mud, dust, and water to protect their skin from sunburn. Whales spend all of their time underwater. Their body fat keeps them warm, so they don't need fur coats. Hair has a special importance for some animals. If it's long and colorful, or short and cropped in different shapes, it can attract lots of attention from the opposite sex. Think about that the next time you see a male lion's mane at the zoo or a teenager with a spiked colored hairstyle at the mall! Some people call humans "naked apes." That's not entirely accurate, though. An adult human's body is covered with about five million hairsthe same number that an adult gorilla has. However, human hair is generally shorter and thinner than gorilla hair. You may have to look closely to see the hairs on most of your body. Gramtica 50% (5/10) 3.
