Compatibility issues: ===================== - For Series 40 themes the theme.xml file size should be 20 Kb or less. An attempt to install a larger file on a device will fails and result in the display of a file corrupt message. - Please note that the White-text template is not a superset of Blue-text template. Both have format-specific components. Both templates conform to the Series 40 Theme v3.0 specifications. - S60 theme packaging: When a package is built for a S60 2nd Edition, Feature Pack 2 theme, third-party icons are not included in theme packages. Known problems and limitations: =============================== - S60 themes: When changing platforms the theme can become corrupted or loose details of component customisations. Workaround: Save and backup your theme before changing platforms. - S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 icons: There are 6 icons which are unavailable due to packaging issues: a. qgn_graf_rkm_play_prev_dim b. qgn_graf_rkm_play_next_dim c. qgn_graf_rkm_pause_prev_dim d. qgn_graf_rkm_pause_next_dim e. qgn_graf_rkm_stop_next_dim f. qgn_graf_rkm_stop_prev_dim Workaround: These icons can be added as 3rd party icons. However, they should be customised in themes configured for S60 5th Edition and S60 3rd edition, Feature Pack 2 only. Themes containing these icons may be packaged for S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 or later. Don t try to customise these icons in S60 3rd Edition, Feature pack1 or S60 2nd Edition, Feature Pack 2 themes. - SVG files created in Adobe Illustrator CS3: In rare cases, SVG files created in Adobe Illustrator CS3 and saved using the default mode (not using the Save for Web & Devices option) appear to be outside the viewBox when applied to theme components. These graphics appear as if their topleft corner had been translated toward the centre of the theme component. This happens either during saves in Illustrator, when Carbide.ui converts SVG to SVG Tiny (SVGT), or when such SVG files are pasted into Carbide.ui, where Carbide.ui filters out all non-SVGT-compliant content. This filtered content is an Adobe-specific transformation of the inverse viewBox matrix; for example, viewBox= -0.75 0.748 20 8 . Workaround: Use Illustrator CS3's Save for Web & Devices option when saving SVG files. - Series40 emulator support: In the Series40 5th Edition, Feature Pack 1

and Series 40 6th Edition emulator, Series40 features work for BMP, GIF, and animated GIF formats only. - Unresponsive operations: Clicking anywhere within Carbide.ui can cause the application to hang when performing a bulk copy and paste, copy an existing theme, clear operation for bulk elements or nine- or 11 piece elements, save as for a large theme, open a large theme, and installation of plug-ins. However, the operation will complete. - Take Contents From themes. functionality: This does not work for Series 40

- Series40 Big Clock: Image skinning of Series40 Big Clock hands is not supported and a preview for colour customisation is not available. - Project names: Carbide.ui may not work properly for projects containing non-ASCII characters when it is running on non-Unicode platforms. - Embedded images in SVG images: Embedded bitmaps (PNG, JPG, and BMP) within SVG are not supported. - Image format support in Series40 devices: SWF, SVG, and M3G formats do not work consistently on Series40 devices. - S60 Incoming/Outgoing Nine-Piece Call Bubble components: On S60 devices, blue-coloured bubbles appear for the Active Call Frame, First Active Call Bubble, and Second Call Bubble regardless of the colour defined in Carbide.ui. - Exporting themes: Exporting large themes can take some time. As there is no progress bar displayed during export, the time taken to export can give the impression Carbide.ui has stopped responding. However, the export will be completed. - Opening Series 40 Themes: New, old, and imported themes (except imported Series40 Themes v2.0) will always open in White-text template, irrespective of the template the theme was using when it was closed. Workaround : Manually change the platform to the Blue-text template after opening the theme. - Platform switching in S60: When a view is maximised, changing the platform does not cause a change in the resolution corresponding to that platform. The behaviour persists after restoring the view to normal size. Also, the available resolutions for the selected platform are not shown in the resolution s dropdown. Workaround: Click anywhere in editor to restore the resolution. - Copying an existing Series 40 theme: When a new Series 40 theme is created using Copy an existing Theme option, the theme is added to the workspace but in not opened. Workaround: Open the theme from the workspace using the Open Theme option. - S60 theme packaging: Error may occur when packaging a theme, known reasons for this include: - When a theme created for a platform other than S60 2nd Edition is switched to S60 2nd Edition for packaging. - Multi-piece components were customised before the theme platform was changed.

Workaround: Restart the tool and package the theme again. - Preview: There are some known preview screen issues for Series40 and S60 themes. - Multi piece elements: Copy and paste does not work for any multi piece components which have been converted to single piece components. Select File functionality: For Status Area Background, Idle Status Area Background, Control Area Background, Idle Control Area Background, Main Area Background, Idle Main Area Background and Control Pane Select File Chosen from the shortcut menu replaces the image instead of adding it as a Layer. Workaround: Use copy/paste or add layer from the animation window and then add the images.

- Search view: Some 9-piece elements are showing as S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1 component in the search view. In addition, after skinning some 9-piece elements of S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 they are seen in the search view for S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1. Workaround: 9-piece elements belong to 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2 or later. - Series 40 start-up and shut down ring tones: These do not work on phones. - All: If the starts, the Manager. Workaround: the Windows installation window is minimised, before the installation window cannot be restored by selecting it from the Task The window can be maximise using the task manager options. Switch To option from

- All: If the New Deployment Package Carbide.ui must be restarted.

window does not open when selected

- Series 40: Animated gif images can not be used for Thumbnails in FIF phones, e.g. for phones requiring themes to be packaged using Series 40 Themes v3.0 light as the target platform. Workaround : Use only static gif images for thumbnails. - Series 40: The name of each image used for skinning thumbnails must be unique. - All: Drag-and-drop and copy/paste of a SWF and M3G image from the file system into a component does not work. - S60: Some features of Audio themes remain at beta status, so minor defects may still be observed. - All: The Cancel button in the Import and Packaging windows is ineffective. - All: There are no progress bars for long operations, such as Create new theme. Copy an existing theme, save as, export, and packaging. - Series 40: There are minor issues with scaling, the Component Store, and the Resources view. - S60: After using Clear to remove changes from an 11-piece component, it is possible that parts of the cleared 11-pieces may be included in

subsequent packaging of the theme. - Animated layers and effects (layer animations) S60 themes only: The behaviour of an animation in the Carbide.ui preview and on a device may differ. This is because on a device, some of the animation components do not support all of the available effects when they are applied to the first layer. Workaround: Test themes on a device to confirm that they work as expected. - Relative-time-mode animations S60 themes only: Components in backgrounds and areas support relative-time-mode animations with only two control points, start and end. In addition, SVG graphics are recommended for use in combination with animated background effects. The Zebra theme provides an example of recommended practice. Workaround: Use only start and end control points for components in backgrounds and areas.
