Situated in Cebu, Philippines, PACIFIC TRADERS & MANUFACTURING CORPORATION began in 1973 as an exporter of rattan poles. Recognizing the market potential of rattan, its founders Hugo and Gorgonia Streegan, diversified into the manufacture and export of rattan furniture in 1976. Owing largely to its innovative use of rattan and mixed media materials, Pacific Traders has established a formidable reputation in the international market. In 1985, the Company coveted the Philippine Golden Shell Award for Outstanding Performance in Export in recognition of its over-all efficiency in quality management, manufacturing capability, research and development, marketing and financial viability. The birth of the company's Wood Division in 1989 has further bolstered its footing, making it a complete furniture manufacturer. Today, Pacific Traders boasts of a diverse product line from the formal classic designs to the casual contemporary styles. Its 589,000 square foot plant and workforce of more than 1,600 ensures adequate capacity and timely delivery of products to its clients. From one person's vision to build something special, Pacific Traders has evolved into one of the country's standard bearer of fine quality furniture. The year 1990 bore witness to the birth of another Pacific Traders affiliate Magellan Veneer Corporation. Commissioned to provide quality grade veneer products to the furniture and construction industries, Magellan Veneer Corporation has a rich selection of imported and locally-sourced veneers. In 1993, a 21,539 square foot facility was built in Cebu. Along with its modern veneering equipment and highly skilled workforce, Magellan Veneer Corporation supplies high quality veneered panels in standard and custom size, table tops and fine marquetry. Over the years, the company has built a reputation of providing each customer with fine product choices and exceptional service. Magellan Veneer Corporation is a manifestation of Pacific Traders commitment to excellence, quality and customer care. Established in 1986, Worldmark Furniture Industries, Inc. is the first affiliate of Pacific Traders to be incorporated. Its inception was based mainly on the strong clamor for wrought iron furniture which was gaining worldwide attention during the 80s. With an intensive research and design capability coupled with Pacific Traders unparalleled quality standards, Worldmark became one of the industrys leading manufacturers of top-of-the-line wrought iron furniture. Established in 1998, Bato International Corporation was first conceived by the family patriarch, Hugo Streegan, as a catch-all factory that will support Pacific Traders and its affiliates of their furniture component needs. Today, Bato International Corporation manufactures furniture hardware made of brass and aluminum using the technology of die casting (or permanent mold casting) and investment casting (or lost wax method of ceramic casting). Additionally, it also produces resin and fiberglass components.
