Class learning:
23rd JAN class 1: discussion about course In first class sir discussed course with us that how he is going to teach us what will be the criteria and how he will make this course more interesting for us later on sir gave us a little bit introduction of course initials, sir discussed about project that we had to submit on 12th of March. Sir told us that in this semester students going to participate during lecture and this will be for whole semester. 26th JAN class 2: studied chapter 1 In 2nd class we completed chapter no 1 in which we studied what strategic management is, key attributes of strategic management process of strategic management which includes 3 basics (strategic analysis, strategy formulation and strategy implementation) .analysis was basically internal and external environment that affects organization activities. We had gain insights about strategic management, its four key attributes, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility along with the examples of all concepts in terms of operating companies. Then we studied about stakeholders, perspective of stakeholder management later on mission vision and strategic objectives of organization were discussed. 30th JAN class 3: studied chapter 2 In 3rd class we studied chapter 2 sir mailed us slides we have to prepare that slides so that we could participate during lecture . We started from external environmental analysis in which we covered SWOT analysis, PEST analysis and PORTERS five forces that how they affect organization activities, impact of all these forces on firms objectives, mission and objectives. 31 Jan: We submitted the assignments and we had a short quiz of 10 minutes which was based on chapter one and two. There were short and multiple choice questions. Answers were also discussed after the quiz that helped me out to pickup my mistake.

2nd FEB class 4: studied chapter 3 In chapter 3 we did internal environmental analysis that covered value chain analysis, resource based view of firm and evaluation of firms performance evaluation. In this chapter I learned difference between primary and support activities of value chain analysis, calculation of some ration and information about balanced score card 6th FEB class 5: studied chapter 4 Chapter 4 was based on recoganization of firms intellectual assets in which we learned that how firms can attract, develop and retain human capital. We discussed different examples of successful firms that how they are giving benefits to their employees so that they can stay in their organization for long time.Furthur we learned about leveraging human capital at business level and on corporate level i was not attentive as much because chapter 4 was repeating those things which I have already studied . 9th FEB class 6: studied chapter 5 Chapter five was based on strategies. We covered different business level competitive strategies and their combinations, combines affect of these strategies on organization. Furthur we discussed a little bit about product life cycle and its different strategies. 13th FEB class 7: studied chapter 6 Chapter 6 was about corporate level strategy that how corporate level strategies vary from business level strategies. We learned concept of leveraging core competencies, vertical integration mergers, acquisitions etc 16th FEB class 8: studied chapter 7 In this chapter learning points were based on international expansion of business. Different global, multidomestic and transnational strategies were discussed in class. How different businesses can expand their business on international level and their entry modes like exporting, licensing, franchising, strategic alliance, joint venture were part of class discussion. 20th FEB class 9: studied chapter 8 Last chapter that we discussed in class was based on impact of internet and e business on functioning of organization, we also discussed effect of internet on competitive forces and

strategies and how it add values. we submitted the assignments and then we had a surprise quiz of chapter 5 & 6.We were asked to explain turnaround strategies, cost leadership strategy and deriving benefits from related and unrelated diversification 23rd FEB class 10: Discussion regarding project 27th FEB class 11: Discussion regarding project. As per our course outline, we had finished all eight chapters that were enough for midterm exams but regardless of that, our instructor especially arranged a spare time to assist us in our projects. 1st march class 12: Combine class with section B 5th march: Project discussion. Reminder for the submission of project report 8th march: Discussion about projects again. Sir was giving special attention on our projects .he really wanted us to work well so that this reports could be forward to respective companies. 12th march . Today was the dead line for the submission of reflective journal. I submitted reflective journal along with project report 16th march: As the quiz was announced In the previous class. It was an open book quiz. We had been given 45 mints for quiz and it was consisted on three papers. we had to do to match the definition from the book and write the page number on the answer sheet but it was not easy 19 march, 22march: Midterm examinations 26 march: We were back after giving a tough exam. Sir was ready to tell us our mistakes and blunders that we made in exams. One by one he solved the entire theoretical question for us

29 march: later on distributed papers I was expecting 25,26 but unfortunately this time sir marked a little bit strict so I got 23 but still I was happy because its better to get something. After paper distribution sir allowed students to come forward if they see any mistake in paper checking also took my paper to sit because according to me sir didnt give marks of one question but it was my misunderstanding sir gave me full marks in that question actually. 2nd april,5th April: Sports week 12 April Chapter 9 In chapter 9 we studied strategic control and corporate governance means how strategic control system helps in strategy implementation.Furthur we discussed key difference between traditional and contemporary control system .Culture of organization is very important for any organizational success so in this chapter we also studied about culture of different organization ,effective control system of organizational strategies and role of corporate governance in controlling the implemented strategies. My learning increased about Achieving effective control, different controls, boundaries, controls, cultures, behavioral control and informational control. 16th April: chapter 10 We started with chapter 10 (Implementing Strategy) and we studied Organizational structure and its forms, growth pattern of large corporations, boundary less structure and pros & cons of barrier free modular system. . At the end of lecture we had been given a group assignment but it was not my turn yet. Among every group, one student was nominated as a group leader 19th April: chapter 11 Students presented their topics from chapter 11 which were assigned by sir. Some of them presented so well but teachers way of teaching cant be copy by students so no doubt I was well clear about some topics but still there were some confusions that later on cleared by sir 23 April: chapter 12 Today was my day I presented chapter no. 12 along with my group it was about innovation management .my part was about introduction of chapter in which I covered managing innovation and types of innovation as I studied so it was not as much difficult to explain to class and

ALHAMDULLILAH I got full marks .i was little bit disappointed too about my project grade but sir told me that prepare and concentrate on final part of project .

Learning from Project:

In first class we did introduction of subject along with a little introduction of project that we have to submit before mid terms. First of all I will like to tell about my project .It is really giving me tough time like before .In every semester we use to do number of projects but this project was above all because I did really hard work in it. First of all we would like to thank Allah Almighty who really helps us in every problem during the project. i would like to express my sincere and humble gratitude to Almighty WHOs Blessings, help and guidance has been a real source of all my achievements in my life. Basically our project was to work on any organization and to make some strategy for it. I chose warid. I started collecting information from internet. Criteria was given in book we have to collect information according to that, it was divided into three portion strategic analysis of organization, strategy formulation and strategy implementation .Third part we have to submit after mids.In first two parts I tried to collect as much data as possible .I started with the introduction of organization, mission statement, vision shareholders their activities in organization. I tried to give detail information of WARID, gave departmentalization structure, function of each department etc. Next part was external as well as internal analysis of WARID environment in which I mentioned swot analysis, pest analysis, porters five forces etc.then I mentioned value chain analysis. After that I mentioned about market analysis in which I compared warid with all other networks and showed the market leader by different market share graphs. Working on strategy of warid was little bit tough because no as much specific strategy was given on internet ,I searched basically business level strategy of warid because its not a corporate so whatever information I got about warid strategies I mentioned in my project. Financial ratio analysis, Product life cycle along with BCGmatrix was also given in my project. Later on I mentioned warid alliances and joined venture that part I took from old newspaper. Later on I assigned a strategy for my company that I have to give in first part but due to misunderstanding I could not give it in first part so after clarification from sir I included this 2nd part with third part that was strategy implementation.honestly speaking it was hell difficult project for me because we had to design a strategy as well as we have too implement it too so today I am hell tired from this

project .i hope so I ll get good marks after really hard work. So this was short description of my project. Learning from assignments and quizes: 2nd Feb 1st quiz: First quiz included 2 chapters. It was objective type quiz 13th Feb 2nd quiz: Second quiz included 4 chapters and question given to us was based on environmental factor affect on any industry chose airline industry .Through this quiz I was able to check my mistakes because I was not clear that how some environmental forces affecting airline business directly or indirect 1st assignment: Stakeholder analysis, porter five forces for any industry: In this assignment I did stakeholder analysis of PIA. I learned type of stakeholder of private sector and public sector firms.2nd question was on porter five forces of any industry I selected PIA so overall this assignment cleared my concepts a lot. 2nd assignment: second assignment was to find out core competencies vertical integration etc of any firm and it was difficult assignment.
