K. Health-Related Fitness (HRF) Component & Activities that Support Learning of HRF: Cardiovascular endurance will be addressed in the set induction of the lesson. When explaining golf in general, we will explain how walking an entire 18-hole golf course will help to improve cardio endurance. L. (6 min) Instant Activity: Warm-Up 1) Description: The students will jog for 3 minutes around the gymnasium as soon as they walk in. They will then be asked to do 15 push-ups and 15 sit-ups in their squads. In addition, various stretching exercises will be performed. 2) Safety: Body parts will be kept to themselves. 3) Diagram of activity: See Attached 4) Transition to next lesson component: The teachers will split up the class evenly and take their students and move to their designated area. M. (1-2 minutes) Set Induction The teachers will ask the students to repeat the cues for the grips, stance, and swing of the chip shot and putt that they reviewed and learned last week. In addition, the students will engage in an active demonstration that reviews the cues. N. (20-25 minutes) Task 1: Golf Course 1) Description: As part of this task we will begin by explaining the rules, honors, and etiquette of golf. To begin, we will ask the students if they already know some of the rules of golf. In pairs, the students will go through a make shift golf course, consisting of 6-8 holes. Each hole will have a different level of difficulty. The overall goal of each hole is to get the ball in the net. The students will be at each hole for about 5 minutes. If the students get the ball in the net before time is up they will have the opportunity to improve their score. This will allow them to both practice and improve at each hole. Students will mark their best score on their scorecard before moving on to the next hole. For example, if they got the ball in the net in 5 swings and this was their best performance they would write a 5 under the hole number on the scorecard. At the end of the 5 minutes each pair will move to the next hole in the rotation. Each pair will begin at a designated hole and rotate accordingly. Each pair will get scorecards and a writing utensil to keep track of their scores. A student will help demonstrate where the tee-off is each hole and how the class will rotate through the course. 2) The students will need to keep a safe space between each other and use the equipment in its intended manner. Also each side needs to wait for their side to finish hitting before retrieving their hit balls. 3) Diagram: See attached 4) Extension: Practice hitting using both grips 5) Refinement: Grips: Interlock Grip: 3-knuckle grip, Shake hands, and Interlock pinky

Overlap Grip: 3-knuckle grips, Shake hands Pinky, and Overlap pinky Stance: Feet shoulder-width, Knees bent, and Eyes on ball Swing: Eyes ball, Arms straight, Weight shift, and 5-7 Swing: Eyes on ball, Arms straight, Weight shift, and 3-9 6) Application: Can you chip the ball in less than 5 attempts? 7) Transition: Yell, freeze and instruct them to leave their clubs behind and gather around the teachers. P. (1-2min) Closure: The teachers will review the cues for chipping with the students. The students will be asked to place the balls into the bucket and hand the golf club to one of the teachers. Q. Assessment: The teachers will ask the students during the closure who was able to successfully chip the ball into the net in less than 5 tries. S. References: http://www.isbe.net/ils/pdh/standards.htm BACKUP IF INSIDE: Ultimate Frisbee Instant activity will remain the same. Set induction (1-2 minutes) The students will be asked to recall what they remember about throwing a disc from the very first lesson that we taught to them. A student will be asked to help demonstrate the two ways that a Frisbee can be thrown. Task 1 (4-5 minutes) Group Throwing Practice Description: The students will be split up into two groups of approximately 6-7 people per group. Each group will then be assigned one half of the gym, where a large circle will be formed. Each group will be given one Frisbee. The students will practice throwing the disc by passing it to other group members across the circle using the correct form. Safety: Keep a reasonable distance away from other students; only throw to a group member who is ready to receive a pass. Diagram: See attached Extension: Try passing the disc using both the forehand and backhand throw

Refinement: Shoulder to target, horizontal across body, wrist snap (backhand) Opposite shoulder to target, arm drag, wrist snap (forehand) Application: Try to complete 10 consecutive passes within the group Transition: Teachers will yell freeze, and the groups will stop throwing the disc Task 2 (25-30 minutes) Ultimate Frisbee Game Description: Remaining in the same groups, the students will spend the rest of the class engaging in several games of Ultimate Frisbee. One group of students will wear pinnies to differentiate the two teams. Before the game begins, a brief review of the rules will be held. Rather than playing one long game, a new game will begin once a team has scored 10 points. Additionally, the teams will be changed up once a new game begins. Safety: Students need to be aware of the location of others while running around; students also need to make sure to avoid the walls near the back of the end zones. Diagram: See attached Extension: Complete a pass to every team member before scoring. This will result in the score being worth 3 points rather than 1. Refinements: Catch-stop-throw, 10 count, Ground= turnover Application: Score 10 points in the game Transition: The teachers will stop the game and the students will be asked to gather in the middle for the closure. Closure (1-2 minutes) The teachers will address the cardiovascular portion of the lesson. The students will be asked to recall important techniques on throwing and catching.
