Title: End of the World Shelters Speaker: Kelsey Schumacher Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience that an end of the world shelter would ultimately benefit them in a time of a crisis of any sort.

Introduction/Attention A. Attention-Getter: As weve talked about in class, we all have our theories as to how the world will end. But if all these situations that we talked about were to happen, what would any of us actually do? B. Establishment of Ethos: Im Kelsey Schumacher from Vivos, one of the first companies of its kind to solely produce shelters made to survive possible tragic events. Ive come here to share with you today an option that most people never think about, if the world were to end where would you go? C. Thematic Statement: There are many catastrophes that could happen within the next seventy years, Vivos is ready for whatever may come with anything you could need during a time of crisis and benefits you in giving peace of mind insurance for the what if. An eruption from this volcano could cover half the United States with 3 feet of ash and likely deteriorate our climate. Scientists estimate this volcano erupts approximately every 600,000 years, and the last eruption makes us well overdue being 620,000 years ago. Hans Maoravec, a research professor at Carnegie Mellon Universitys Robotics Institute in Pittsburgh claims that by 2050 robots with have humanlike mental power with the ability for abstract thought and to generalize. This will allow them to grow and

learn from us and grow. The chance of super-intelligent robots in the next 70 years: High. The danger score: 8. d. The increase of globalization and international travel leave the world at risk for the rapid spread of a viral pandemic before vaccinations can be obtained. According to Professor Maria Zambon a virologist at the Health Protection Agencys Influenza Laboratory, nature is the ultimate bioterrorist and could cause a serious setback for humans for many years if there were a viral pandemic (Ravilous). The chance of a viral Pandemic in the next 70 years: Very High. The danger score: 3. e. When people think of an end of the world shelter, the most common thing to come to mind is a nuclear bomb. According to the website, Underground Bomb Shelter, that besides that initial drop the most lethal part of a bomb would be the fallout afterwards. This can drift hundreds of miles from the site.
