Brief History of Diplomatic Practice and the United Nations, Development and Evolution of the Model United Nations Program (could be a video), Potential Role in Conflict Management Ice Breaker: Getting to know each other, Can be IR themed BREAK Brief overview of the MUN program and Basic Skills, MUN Committees (SC and GA), Roles of Chairs, Delegates, Pages, Definition of Terms (i.e., resolution, caucus) Flow (Beginning the Committee -> Debates ->Reso) How to research, make allies, prepare for the Conference (policy statements etc) Know Relevant UN/Foreign Agencies

Country assignments shall be given for the Conference so participants may begin researching and preparing To facilitate research -what is a working paper, basic formatting examples -what is a resolution, parts, basic formatting -analysis of a resolution -good vs. bad resolutions, sample UN, student-made ones -amending a resolution -voting on a resolution
