Special Issue May 13, 2012 ===============================

As we celebrate this festive date in May of the year 2012, let us be guided by the memories of how we have been brought into this world as Gods gift to humanity through the kindness of our mothers. Who else labored much in order that we could see the light of day from the moment of our birth until we become what we are now if not our beloved moms? It is but a fitting tribute to them that we dedicate this day in recognition of our mothers important and significant role in our upbringing, of the sacrifices they made in hurdling all the obstacles to rear us and their doubtless aspirations for us to be the personification of their dreams and the fulfilment of their personal goals.

Happy Mothers Day

Peter and Cornelius
On Peters arrival Cornelius met him, and falling at his feet, worshipped him. But Peter made him get up, saying, Stand up; I am only a mortal. (Acts 10:25-26, NRSV)

Gentiles Hear the Good News

Then Peter began to speak to them: I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. (Acts 10:34-35, NRSV)

Gentiles Receive the Holy Spirit

While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard the word. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles, for they heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter said, Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have? So he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they invited him to stay for several days. (Acts 10:44-48, NRSV)

Jesus the True Vine

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Fathers commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another. (John 15:9-17)

A Psalm
O sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvellous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gained him victory. The LORD has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God. Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises. (Psalm 98:1-4, NRSV)

On Being Inspired
Finding Pathways through the Community is a book by N. Madera Aguilar released both in print and electronic forms. As an e-book from NRCS Bookshop, it is ready for browsing or procurement by those interested through the Web. The same may be viewed upon and unloaded from the authors displayed documents on Scribd. A reader need only to click on http://www.scribd.com/nrcsbookshop for such purpose. In this book, the author restates the significant objectives being pursued by a group of Roman Catholic workers in faith who comprise the community. An episode is hereunder reproduced: ***** Brother Edwin and his group gladly shares with the public the history of Ang Dios Gugma Catholic Ministries Inc. which is likewise posted in the Communitys Web site, www.adgiloilo.com, as follows: The foundation which led to the conception of the "Ang Dios Gugma Catholic Ministries, Inc." community was due to a man's quest for peace, happiness, love and forgiveness. Burdened and pressured with too many problems in life, he was physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually exhausted. His life was miserable as he experienced sleepless nights, coupled with 2

God Is Love
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. Gods love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:7-10, NRSV)

nightmares and nervousness. He consulted quack doctors for cure but to no avail. His situation became worst until he made a decision to end his life. July 17-18, 1982 marked the conversion and the turning point of this person's life when he attended a Spiritual Renewal in Leon, Iloilo. The renewal was sponsored by the St. Catherine Prayer Group. The "bug and kiss" of the Holy Spirit changed his life and brought into it a new meaning. The Lord opened this person's mind about spiritual matters which led him to search for God's Word and to read the Holy Bible seriously. In his thirst for the Word of the Lord, he joined various prayer groups which molded and formed him to what he is now. On February 2, 1984, with the grace of God, a small community named "Ang Dios Gugma" was formed with Bro. Edwin A. Daulo as the founder and initiator. The said community was under the Holy Name of "Jesus Prayer Group" Arevalo, Iloilo City with Bro. Edwin's immediate family as members as well as the Celina and Gepana families. The Spirit of Jesus Christ moved the group to evangelize Jordan, Guimaras on the same year. But prior to that, the group prayed that they will be given a sign by healing Tatay Basilio Gepana, Sr. who was suffering from diabetes and who had a wound on his feet for almost 18 years which was slowly eaten by worms. As such, his condition was deteriorating. For 21 days of soaking prayer done by the group, Tatay Basilio got healed thus, opening the way for the Guimaras evangelization. With the permission of Rev. Fr. Sergio Jamoyot, Parish Priest of Jordan, Guimaras, the group were allowed to conduct Prayer Meeting in the area. Later on that year, with the blessing given, the first Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS) was given. It was followed by another LSS in the area thereby opening more communities in the Poblacion, Sanao and Morobuan, Guimaras. In the later part of 1985, the community in Jordan, Guimaras became "God is Love Prayer Group" registered with the Iloilo Catholic Charismatic Secretariat with Jose "Peping" Duran as the Coordinator. In 1986, Bro. Anselmo Lacuesta and wife Sally, Chairman of Hiligaynon Seminar Ministry of ICCRS joined the community. In the same year, the founder and the Head Servant of the "Ang Dios Gugma", Bro. Edwin A. Daulo, transferred his residence from Villa, Iloilo to Calaparan, Arevalo and was assigned to oversee the Calaparan Charismatic Group of the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Prayer Group. 3

In 1988, Rev. Fr. Danilo Carolino C.M., Parish Priest of The Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish and ICCRS approved that the small community of "God is Love Prayer Group" will have Bro. Anselmo Lacuesta as its first Chairman/Coordinator. On June 12, 1991, the Provincial Capitol Community under the Assumption Prayer Group joined the "God is Love Prayer Group". Last May, 1993 the Prayer Center of the "God is Love Prayer Group" was constructed and blessed during its 4th Anniversary Celebration. The "God is Love Prayer Group" was officially changed to "Family of God is Love" in 1993. In that same year, the Provincial Capitol Chapter was made into a prayer group registered with the secretariat. The "God is Love Prayer Group" continued its mission of evangelization thus, opening communities in Quintin Salas, Ungka II, Timawa and East Baluarte. In New Lucena, the group was able to conduct a Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS) in three (3) barangays such as Brgy. Dawis, Brgy. Badiang and Brgy. Balabag. The group was also able to give a Life in the Spirit seminar to three (3) barangays in Lambunao namely Brgy. Bon-bon, Brgy. Da-an Banwa and Brgy. Pajo. Later, the group has given LSS to Brgy Dawis, Pototan. In September, 1994, Bro. Edwin desired to go into radio as the seed has been planted in his heart to proclaim the Word of God through the tri-media evangelization. However, before making a final decision, he contemplated on it further to make sure that the inspiration really came from the Holy Spirit. During the "World Youth Day" and the visit of Pope John Paul II in Metro Manila in January, 1995, Bro. Edwin and the ADG Youth members were given an opportunity to attend said occasion. When Pope John Paul II gave his message which says, "Tell the world of His love," Bro. Edwin felt a burning desire within him as the power of those words penetrated deep into his heart. This experienced further intensified his desire to go into the radio ministry. The above occasion was followed by a three-day National Convention of Charismatic Renewal at the PICC, Manila of which Bro. Edwin was one of the participants. The Holy Mass was presided by Cardinal Sin, Cardinal Vidal and various Archbishops. Cardinal Sin told the participants that he had just received the blessing from the Pope and he wanted to impart this blessing to them. Bro. Edwin was very fortunate and blessed to have received said impartation.

During the plenary session of the convention, a cell grouping activity was done. Various subject matters were given for discussion. Bro. Edwin chose the subject matter of "evangelization." To his surprise, almost all of his companions in the cell group that he joined had already a radio program ministry in their respective places in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Because of this experience, Bro. Edwin finally made up his mind to go into radio. Thus, on March 16, 1995, the "Ang Dios Gugma" radio ministry was created. A 30-minute slot at DYRP was given to Bro. Edwin for his radio program. This lasted for one month and one-half (1 & ) only as DYRP stopped its operation. On August 01, 1995, the ADG community was able to get a time slot for its radio program at DYBQ. The radio ministry likewise reached the Province of Capiz in 1999 through its radio program at DYJJ which lasted for a period of eight (8) months. In December, 2000, the ADG Community transferred its radio program from DYBQ to DYRI on both its AM and FM band. In August, 2001, the community again transferred its radio program from DYRI to Aksyon Radyo where it maintains a 30-minute radio program from 2:30 - 3:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday. On March 22, 2001, the ADG community got its registration from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with its registered name of "Ang Dios Gugma (ADG) Catholic Ministries, Inc.". Likewise in 2001, the "Ang Dios Gugma" television ministry came into being. The ADG community was able to get a 1 hour slot of TV program from Monday to Friday at Channel 43 of Cablestar. In 2005, with God's grace and Divine providence, the 1 hour slot of TV program was changed to 24 hours and the operation of Channel 43 of Cablestar was transferred to the ADG tri-media ministry. In 2006, the ADG community was able to get another 24 hours slot of TV program at Channel 42 of Skycable thus, widening the scope of its evangelization program by reaching more televiewers. The radio and television ministries paved the way for the creation of more ADG outreaches in various towns in the City and Provinces of Iloilo as well as in Negros Island. In April 6, 2006, a Kinder School known as the "Ang Dios Gugma Catholic School, Inc." was created. The students are mostly pre-school children of Calaparan and Calumpang, Arevalo, Iloilo. 4

In 2010, the "Ang Dios Gugma Catholic Ministries Foundation, Inc." was formed. The ADG foundation aimed to develop both the spiritual and the physical well-being of individuals by proclaiming the Gospel of God and witnessing the love of Jesus Christ through the tri-media evangelization in order to inculcate the true Catholic Faith and Christian values to people of all nations and to support, finance and sponsor the education of the poorest of the poor members of society who will be called "Scholars of Hope". In order to maintain and deepen the spiritual aspect of each of the ADG members, the community conducts a formation/teaching activity for leaders and potential leaders every Monday at the Iloilo American Memorial School from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., General Prayer Meeting every Thursday at the Sta. Teresita Prayer Center from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Prayer Meeting every Friday at the Iloilo American Memorial School from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Healing Mass every Sunday at Molo Church from 12:00 1:00 p.m. Further, the different outreaches also hold a weekly Prayer Meeting for their group together with the leader or format or assigned in the area. A one-day formation seminar for new leaders was also being conducted every 4th Saturday of the month at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol. At present, the ADG Catholic Ministries, Inc. has outreaches in the six (6) Districts of the City of Iloilo namely Jaro, Lapaz, Molo, Mandurriao, Arevalo and City Proper. For its out-of-town outreaches, we have the Province of Guimaras, Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao, San Joaquin, Tubungan, Igbaras, Pavia, Leganes, Zarraga, Dumangas, Anilao, Banate, Barotac Viejo, New Lucena, Sta. Barbara, San Miguel, Alimodian, Leon, Pototan, Passi, Duenas, Cabatuan, Janiuay, Badiangan, Lambunao and Calinog. The ADG community has also reached Negros Island where Silay City, La Castellana, Moises Padilla and Victorias are already part. Recently, the ADG community, with the blessing and endorsement of His Excellency, Msgr. Angel N. Lagdameo, Archbishop of Jaro, was able to reach its evangelization program in Metro Manila to areas such as Makati, Marikina, Bulacan and Subic. Inspired by his and the ADG Youth members attendance in the "World Youth Day" and the visit of Pope John Paul II in Metro Manila in January, 1995, where Pope John Paul II gave his message, saying: Tell the world of His love, Bro. Edwin has been well into the radio ministry.

Today, moreover, the head servant of the Community has gone a long way in accomplishing his mission as his voice can be heard not only through the radio but he is into all forms of the modern multi-media means. The main office of ADG is located in the compound of Iloilo American Memorial School, General Luna Street, Iloilo City. NRCS Fiction A Girls Awakening

FLOWERS in full bloom formed a blanket on the other side of the stream as they held fast to the memory of summer which had nurtured them. But the rise of fear was evidentfear that they would soon vanish when larger streaks of rain could make the stream overflow. The rainy season had just begun and it meant change. The rain could stimulate growth, but it could also wash away the flowers. So that Andrea had to pick them. Pick them before someone else could: the rain, the flood. Picking those flowers was a hobby that Andrea adored, perhaps, because she compared herself to them: sweet, supple and innocentradiating a charm so feminine and so lovable, and yet, sometimes ouch!--thorny. She sipped her finger. A red spot appeared. She inadvertently laid her finger on the stem where a thorn was pointing toward her. It was protecting the rose she intended to pick, which was so lovely, but when it hurt her, she left it alone. The girl was so engrossed in the flowers that she did not notice the time and space she covered before she withdrew her attention from them. She was surprised that, unexpectedly, she had already gone far. Farther away from the stream was her direction. She suddenly realized she had to go back. Before she turned, she spotted the guava tree where she and her playmates gathered a few days ago. It was no longer a distant view and a few steps more would draw her nearer to it but the prospect of approaching it alone did not fascinate her. Andrea recalled how she and the four other girls who were her close friends had fun during their previous stint in the vicinity. From their respective residences, they had walked in single pile until they reached the stream. Before crossing the water, they silently sought each others eyes and nodded as if they decided on something in unison. It did not take them long to rush through the flowing water and climb up the opposite bank. When they were already there, they followed a trail until they reached a portion where the guava tree stood beside a narrow pathway. As it had been several weeks when they last visited the tree, they found out it was already bearing 5

ripe fruits. They lost no time in feasting over the greener ones since the birds appeared to have come ahead of them and destroyed the yellow fruits. The hole has gone deeper! one of Andreas friends who had ambled further beyond the spot where the guava tree stood noticed and pointed the area to her friends. Some horsemen may have passed this way and their horses could have damaged the trail, Andrea opined. Come lets fill it, the youngest of Andreas friends suggested. The girls gathered weeds, leaves and bushes which they utilized to stuff the hole with in the middle of the trail. The recollection had overwhelmed Andrea to the extent that when she made a step at the next instant, she realized her right foot was already being submerged in the water of the stream. ~~~~~ Marilyn, her older sister, had previously cautioned her from going farther away to the spot beyond the streambut the flowers, she was so absorbed in them. She did not fail to recall what her sister had said, but that was only later. At first, she got carried away. Andrea was fourteen years of age; quite young to be a woman, quite old to be a girl. At this stage of her growth, she had already the figure of a true female. Her body was growing faster than her age, it could not be denied. There was an occasion when her only sister, Marilyn, had noticed that they were almost the same, and she was growing faster, catching up with her, and yet they were so distant in age. Marilyn was about to finish high school while Andrea had just finished elementary, and she had to give way to the elder sister; let her graduate first and then enter high school later. These were hard times, their parents made them realize. At this phase of her life, Andrea had felt the difference. There were so many things that seemed perplexing, and such troubled her. She turned her way back and ambled toward home. Every gait of hers sent a message to her mind, and she made a recollection as she was sauntering back for home. As she grew older, it seemed to her, the world also grew wider, the horizon going more remote. And she concluded that there were more things she had to comprehend, although she was beginning to know 6

them. She had admitted that she was a mystery in herself. ~~~~~ Proceeding across the stream, Andrea paused and looked down at the clear water. But it was not for long as she afterwards traversed it. Then, lifting her last foot from the water, something that she saw surprised her. ===================================
