This book was one of the most prominent and well read at the time and provided me with insight into the arguments made by anti-polygamists as well as the opinion former members of the church had regarding the principle. This book, an autobiography with the help from Stowe helped me to understand the information that the rest of the country as well as the legislators were receiving in regards to Mormon polygamy. This article gave a well-researched account of life in Utah during the early days of Mormonism and was a well balanced article, whose information fit with information from other sources. Brower, Sam. This book contained information the followers of Warren Jeffs, presenting a biased view on the downsides of polygamy still existing in America today; however was well researched and contained important information. Bushman, Richard. Mormonism: A Very Short Introduction. New York, NY: Oxford, 2008. This book provided a short history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; however had little information on the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This essay provided information on plural marriages from the point of view of the Mormons and provides quotations and other pertinent details on the way of life, especially for the women in early Utah. This book highlighted the political aspects of the conflict especially in regards to the tactics congress used to eradicate polygamy as well as the important legal battles. This book contained information on polygamists in America today from the point of view of an outsider, and provided a history of polygamy in the post-manifesto period. Mason, Patrick Q. This article provided information regarding the opinions of southerners after the civil war on the other relic of barbarism. It was a fairly unbiased article, presenting the facts, but showed little about the opinions of Mormons and their converts in the south. This essay provided information in the Mormons response to the legislation as well as information on the legislation. It discussed the underground era and also provided quotations from practicing polygamists during that time.
