Company Profile
IHC Engineering Business (EB) is a member of the Dutch shipbuilding group IHC Merwede, which is a world market leader for the supply of efficient dredging vessels, customised offshore vessels, and their equipment. EB designs specialist equipment for the offshore oil and gas, submarine telecoms, and renewables industries. Typical projects include the design, manufacture and supply of bespoke systems including pipelay equipment, trenching machines and handling systems, with EBs scope of supply ranging from engineering design, modifications or upgrades to complete turnkey, integrated ship systems. EB has invested heavily in expanding its production and support facilities. The new site at Riverside Quay, Port of Tyne, close to the mouth of the river, is able to accommodate assembly, testing, commissioning and installation of several major projects simultaneously. This facility is a further commitment by EB to offer its customers a wider range of manufacturing, mobilisation and support services from one deep-water base. EBs ability to deliver world-class offshore equipment is entirely due to the dedication, expertise and creativity of its staff. Across all disciplines from mechanical, structural, electrical, hydraulic and control to QA and production, a passion for technology innovation and delivering systems of the highest quality is at the heart of every project and service provided by EB.

Docking Bucket & Bullet Application of remote latching technology to offshore wind operations. This system is based on established technology with redundant features to maximise operational availability in the probable operating circumstances. Previous EB contracts including submersible rescue vehicles, trenchers and pipeline ploughs have been equipped with a circular bullet and latching bucket. This means of subsea vehicle release and reconnection to their lift lines has proven itself to be very practical offshore
Aggressive Share Design EBs raked share design ensures aggressive burial in a wide range of seabed conditions. Through the use of high wear-resistant cutting tips effective burial can be achieved in hard ground. Projects have included a share designed for burial in chalk seabeds

Sea Titan 1 The Horizon pipeline trenching system comprises a towed trenching plough that is also designed to carry out subsequent backfilling operations by reconfiguring the soil engaging parts
BPL3 Launch Operations BPL3 features foldable skids to allow launch and recovery from the same A-frame as the main trenching plough PL3. This allows both plough systems to be stored on a single vessel simultaneously, reducing mobilisation costs and overall project time for operator Saipem UK
BPL3 Mobilisation EB has direct quayside access allowing all its projects to be quickly and cost effectively mobilised during delivery. In addition, EBs wide range of support services allow it to add further value to clients activities beyond ex-works delivery of systems
