I used this source for quotes in all of my pages except for the Home page. This is trustworthy because it came out of Louis Pasteur's mouth and he is the main character that our topic is about. Lister, Joseph On the Antiseptic Principle in the Practice of Surgery The British Journal 2, no. 351 (1867): 246-248 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2310614/ This is an article that was originally a speech by surgeon Joseph Lister that he gave at the Annual Meeting of the British Medical Association in Dublin, Ireland on August 9, 1867. He talks about the treatment of compound fractures using antiseptics. He tells us how the infection and death rates dropped and how wounds healed faster and cleaner once he started using carbolic acid to disinfect the wound. I used this article for my background page. This is a scholarly newspaper that had this article that was spoken by Lister who was the influenced by Pasteurs work and believed in the idea of microbes. Louis Pasteur Is Dead" New York Times, September 29, 1895 This is a newspaper article telling of Pasteurs achievements and challenges in his lifetime. I used this article as supportive evidence for my reaction and revolution. This is trustworthy because it was written on the day of Pasteurs death and is correct based on other sources I have read.

He talks about his vaccine for Chicken Cholera and Splenic Fever and how they came about. I used this article for quotes in my website. Pasteur gave this speech himself trying to prove that the vaccine worked. Pasteur, Louis. The Germ Theory and its Applications to Medicine and Surgery. Comptes Rendus del lAcademie des Sciences lxxxvi (1878): 1037-43 This article and speech by Louis Pasteur is an explanation of how the process of culture works and how it helped serve the medical field. This article helped me understand how Pasteur used the process of culture in his vaccine against chicken cholera and anthrax. Pasteur spoke this when talking about his theory. Pasteurization of Beer New York Times. January 1, 1886 This is an article describes how Pasteur discovered that he could Pasteurize beer as well as wine. It also talks about the steps of Pasteurizing beer. I used this article as evidence for my revolution page of my website. It was published the day of the public announcement that there was now a way to Pasteurize beer. Suzor, Jean Hydrophobia an account of M. Pasteurs system London, Chatto and Windos (1887) This book talks to the reader about how Pasteur picked out the organism causing the disease and how he subdued it. I used this book as a deeper understanding of Pasteurs revolution. This book was written during the life of Pasteur. The Rabbits of Australia. New York Times. March 11, 1888 This article describes how Pasteurs research on chicken cholera can affect problems even out of the medical field. I used this article to prove that Pasteurs research was not all about finding vaccines. It was about the starting point in using deadly microbes to your advantage once you know how to work with them. This article was written when Pasteur was doing work with anthrax and chicken cholera.

Vallery-Radot, Rene Louis Pasteur: His Life and Labors New York, New York D. Appleton, (1886), 89-270 This book puts Pasteurs life into a timeline, but without his last years of life, since this book was written during his lifetime. In certain unimportant parts of Pasteurs life there is less detail but during his big revolutions there is a lot more detail than one would expect. I used this book as supportive evidence for my revolution, reaction, and reform pages for my website. This source was written by Pasteurs son-in-law and the author has written multiple books about Pasteur.

Secondary Sources: BBC Hans Roslings 200 Countries, 200 Years, 4 Minutes-The Joy of Stats-BBC Four Youtube. This video is about the level of sickness and poverty from the last 200 years. I used part of this video as a clip for my website. It describes life during the 18th century. This video was taken by a news company and the man performing in the video has done multiple presentations over the data on the 200 years. Edwin Chadwick (1800-90) Sciencemuseum. http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/broughttolife/people/edwinchadwick.aspx This online article describes Chadwicks accomplishments, beliefs on sanitation, and what he did to fix the growing problem of sanitation in Europe. I put his Amendments, Laws, and Acts into my reform page of my website. This article came from a science museum in Europe. Debre, Patrice Louis Pasteur Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University Press, 1998 This book is a more detailed account of Pasteurs life. I used this book as supportive evidence for conclusion and impact. This is a trustworthy document because it tells the reader the long term impact of his revolutions. Dubos, Rene. Louis Pasteur, free lance of science. New York, Da Capo Press, 1960 This book is an account of Louis Pasteurs life from beginning to end. This book helped me get my information together and get the facts straight. The sources the author used are primary sources that many authors have used.

Dubos, Rene. Pasteur and Modern Science. New York: Science Tech Publishers, 1988. Chapters 7-13. This book is another account of Pasteurs life, but with more pictures. I used these pictures on my website. This author has written multiple works on Pasteur over the span of many years. Fee, Elizabeth and Brown Theodore The Public Health Act of 1848. Bulletin of the World Health Organization. November 2005, 83 (11) http://www.who.int/bulletin/volumes/83/11/866.pdf This online article describes important health acts leading up to the Public Health Act and the Public Health Act itself. I used this article for quotes and general information for my Laws page on my website. Two authors wrote this by researching many primary documents of health acts during or around this time. Fitzgerald, J. G. Louis Pasteur- His contribution to anthrax, Vaccination and the Evolution of a Principle of Active Immunization.California State Journal of Medicine 21, no. 3 (1923): 101-103 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1517523/ This article contains evidence of the revolutionary discoveries of anthrax and active immunization. This article also explains the background to the anthrax vaccine. This fact helped me build up my background and revolution page on my website. This article came from the California State Journal of Medicine and the article was written only 28 years after Pasteurs death. The journal producers also looked at the works of writers during Pasteurs life. Haas, L. F. This article helped me get a general outline of my topic when I first started researching my topic. It comes from a trusted journal. Kellogg, Wilfred Pasteurs Discovery of the Preventive Treatment for Rabies Western Journal Of Medicine 21, no. 3 (1923): 104-106 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1517533/ In this journal it describes, in detail, of the way Pasteur made his success on the treatment for rabies. I used this article as supportive evidence to one part of my revolution. This article was written only 28 years after Pasteurs death and is published in a journal only focusing of medicine.

Mason, Osgood. "A Life of Pasteur." New York Times, February 22, 1902 This is a newspaper article describing what a man Pasteur was and the results of what he accomplished. I used this as a detailed reference of what he did to make the revolution so revolutionary and a source to prove the reaction of Pasteur's discoveries. This is trustworthy, because the author of this article read many primary sources by many people including Pasteur's step son. The author was also a very scholarly man who wrote many books on science and what goes on in the human body. skipjacktuner, The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936) Trailer, YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrH65GnzhH8 This video is about Pasteurs life and his accomplishments. I used this video as clips throughout my website. I also used this as a helpful source for my conclusion. This is a source that was produced not many years after Pasteurs death and after researching my topic thoroughly I found that this video is very reliable. Stern, Alexandra and Markel, Howard The History of Vaccines and Immunization: Familiar Patterns, New Challenges Health Affairs 24, no.3 (2005) 611-621 http://content.healthaffairs.org/content/24/3/611.abstract This article describes the journey of Edward Jenner and how he came upon the cowpox and smallpox vaccination. This article was helpful in the background section of my website. Two authors wrote this and they both are accepted as great writers of the journal. Toledo-Pereyra, Luis H. Louis Pasteur Surgical Revolution. Journal of Investigative Surgery 22.2 (2009): 82-87 Pasteurs research was the background for the surgical revolution. This article gave supported evidence toward my revolution page. This article was written in a journal dedicated to surgery and its history. tsigakani. The Story of Louis Pasteur (1935).avi. YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2zAl3ZTtNc This video is about Pasteur and his anthrax vaccination. It talks about his experiment at Pouily de Fort and what people thought of his vaccine. This video was used as clips throughout my website and supportive evidence for reaction and revolution pages. This source originally shot in 1935, not long after Pasteurs death and is mostly right, based on my sources.

Vallery-Radot, Rene The Life of Pasteur New York. New York Doubleday, Page and Company (1915) This is a book that is based off of Pasteurs life in chronological order. I used this book for many quotes and pictures for my website. The author of this book was Louis Pasteurs step son and has written many books about him.
