EXILE

Exile Exile is the condition when one lives away from ones country. This can be either forced due to certain circumstances or one can impose it on oneself. For example, the famous Indian painter MF Hussain had to spend the last years of his life in exile. This was due to reported obscenity in his paintings and how some Hindu fundamental groups took objection to his painting the Hindu gods and goddesses in nude. The court cases and all the legal battles made him flee the country. The dictionary definitions for Exile are as follows: 1. Enforced removal from one's native country. (noun) 2. Self-imposed absence from one's country. (noun) 3. The condition or a period of living away from one's native country. (noun) 4. One who lives away from one's native country, whether because of expulsion or voluntary absence. (noun) In fact, in this small extract, there are a number of words worth consideration other than exile. The meanings of these words are listed below (kindly try to make sense of them in the given context): Contemporary: Belonging to the present time Longing: Desire strongly Muse: The source of an artist's inspiration Prodigal: Recklessly wasteful Adorned: Make more attractive by adding ornament, colour, etc. Bestowed: Present/Give as a gift

EXTRADITION

Extradition Extradition is a word that we find on the front pages of newspapers every now and then. A quick Google search for headlines will reveal the following results: 1. 2. 3. Murder suspect extradited to Victoria Suspect in 1990 UA prof. murder extradited from Canada Ex-dictator Noriega's extradition to Panama imminent

in each of the above sentences, the person is being sent to another land or at least it being thought of sending the person to another state or country. But who are these people who are being transported? These people are basically accused of doing some or the other wrongdoing in the land they are being exported to. So all extradition means is to be exported to a place you do want to be exported to. Or we can call it export of the legal kind. The dictionary definitions for Extradition are as follows: 1. The surrender of an accused/fugitive (someone who is sought by law) to the jurisdiction of another state, country, or government for trial. (In layman terms, when a country/govt./state sends a criminal from its own to another where he has committed the crime.)
