CARTOONS MANIAC Level: Form 1 (Advanced) Time: 2 periods (70 minutes) Theme/Topic: Learning Verbs and moral values

through movie. Language Content: Grammar- verb Educational Emphases: Thinking skills, Multiple Intelligences, ICT skills Previous Knowledge: 1) Students have learnt of verb as the action word and the types of verbs 2) Students have watched the puss in boots movie previously. 3) Students have basic computer skills to surf the Internet Aims: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to 1) Use internet browser and search engine to look for information 2) Answer the cloze passage and do a worksheet on moral values in the movie. Moral Values: 1) Students will be instilled good moral values such as integrity, help each other Technical requirements: 1) Fully functioning desktop personal computers shared among 2 - 3 students per computer 2) Internet connection 3) Web browsers 4) Microsoft Word 2003 or 2007 5) Hot Potatoes 6 Preparation: 1) Download a trailer on the movie Puss in boots 2) Prepare the lesson and electronic worksheet using Hot Potatoes 6 JCloze out of the information available on the website.

Teacher directs students to one topic and shows the Puss in Boots trailer on the screen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i62WffQuDPU 3. Teacher asks and discusses with the students what can they understand about the movie or trailer. Activity 1 (20 minutes) 1. Teacher assigns students into groups of 2 to 3 students per group per computer. 2. Teacher explains the instruction: i) Teacher instructs students to type www.google.com and type http://www.mediafire.com/?aohwz8oavt1zakp to open the cloze passage named JClozeHPotatoes.htm ii) iii) Activity 2 (30 minutes) 1. Teacher instruct students to type www.google.com and type 2. Teacher allocates 10 minutes for students to copy the mind map of moral values of Puss in Boots movie in exercise book. 3. Teacher discuses the answers with the students. Conclusion (5 minutes) 1) Teacher elicit response from the students to recap the lesson of the day 2) Teacher congratulates students on their effort and to those who manage to do well in the class. Teacher allocates 5 minutes for students to answer the questions. Teacher discusses the answers with students.
