Reception have been learning about different modes of transport. On a recent (believe it or not!) SUNNY Friday afternoon, we were lucky enough to have a friend of a member of staff bring his motorbike into school. The children were able to ask questions and look at the big, long, super duper (Will RJ) black Triumph Street Triple R motorbike. Many were even brave enough to sit on it! Some tried the horn and others got to try on the crash helmet which we discovered is really quite heavy and also the protective leather jacket. Although most of the children still had quite a bit of growing to do for it to fit them! It was a great experience to be able to get so close to and sit on a real motorbike, we had a lovely afternoon. Thank you to Miss Lamberts friend and P.S. sorry for any scratches on the paintwork!

Amanda Reed has been our Parent Support Advisor for the last three years. Amanda is in school every Friday and is probably well known to many of you now, especially if you have attended the schools Family SEAL sessions. Amanda works with individual parents and children and has also played an important part in helping the school support parental development and well-being through organising workshops on Parent Empowerment and Signalong sessions. She has run coffee mornings and raised funds for MacMillan Cancer charity. She has organised various workshops for Parents, including sessions on ADHD and attends our Parent Evenings and is available along with our Governors to answer and support parental queries. Below is a table showing the types of interventions that Amanda has been involved in with the numbers of individuals involved. She has supported in areas affecting Child protection/Safeguarding, Domestic violence, Family Intervention Type Numbers Individuals relationships, Bereavement/Loss, 15 31 1 15 4 3 5 4 194 272 Mental Health, Physical Health, Self -esteem/Friendships, Attendance/ Punctuality, Unhappy at/with school/home, Behaviour, Transition, Employment/Training/Education, Housing/Benefits and Poverty. Amanda is also keen to involve more parents, especially Dads, in school life and is working with local providers to organise more family learning opportunities. As you can see, Amanda does an amazing job in supporting our pupils and families in one day a week. You can contact Amanda, in confidence, via the school office. Parents in School In order not to disturb lessons and to maintain the safety of all our pupils, parents who bring children into school late will be asked to leave their child at the school office, rather than escort them down to their classroom. The office staff will take any messages for the teacher who can then make an appointment at a later mutually convenient time. Many thanks in anticipation of your co-operation in these matters. Many thanks to all the children and staff who made a donation to this worthwhile cause. Thanks also go to Jessica and James Baldwin who donated a brand new book each for our new school library. These books will now have a special name plate inside to acknowledge name of the person making the kind donation. Contact Details Please could parents ensure we have up to date contact details for both parents, home and work and any mobile numbers; along with the same for any other contacts you wish us to use such as grand-parents. We have had two incidents this week when we have been unable to reach a parent as their details were out of date. This causes distress to the child and problems for school. Please see Ms Saill in the office if you need to update your details.
