Member of Parliament for Couva North Minister of State in the Ministry of Gender, Youth & Child Development

VISION
Let me begin firstly by formally thanking the 16,000 constituents of Couva North who exercised their voting rights in my favour on May 24th 2010. I was given a mandate by the people of Trinidad & Tobago to serve them and from 2010 till now I have been serving and delivering to the best of my ability. The Couva North Constituency Executive and Couva North Office Staff have played a major role in planning and implementing for the constituents of Couva North as we move the constituency forward as a whole. Over the past two years we have become the Couva North Family and a force to be reckoned with when it comes to representing the constituents of Couva North. Government has identified Central Trinidad, and specifically Carapichaima as one of the pillars of development for economic activity. To date we have been able to attract the Ministry of Science, Technology & Tertiary Education with its YTEPP Business Education Centre in Waterloo and its Woodford Lodge Workforce Development Technology Centre. Our youths are most important and for their benefit, we have been able to successfully host our Couva North Youth Fair and our Couva North Movie Night. Additionally we have been partnering with Corporate Couva and Chaguanas, religious bodies, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders to truly develop the constituency of Couva North.
As evidenced by this report, developing Couva North has been and will continue to be an ongoing, arduous, positive journey. My vision for this area is firstly to develop to the highest of standards the basic infrastructure as this greatly impacts on daily lives of the people. This includes improving and developing roads and drainage, access to water and electricity, construction of community centres to implement community building programmes and rehabilitating recreational grounds to incorporate sporting and other activities. The end goal is to pursue development via governments collective decisions which seek to benefit our human resource, the greatest asset of this country.

Member of Parliament, the Honourable Ramona Ramdial hosted grand Christmas Celebrations in Couva North in 2010 and 2011. During the MPs first year in office, the constituency saw celebrations being held at Waterloo High School where over 700 children were treated to snacks, games, rides, toys and entertainment. In 2011 Ramdial took her Christmas Celebration on the road with a Christmas Caravan which made stops at six strategic locations around the constituency, delivering snacks and toys to over 3000 children.

Divali Celebrations
Couva North saw Divali Celebrations being held at the MPs Office in 2010 and 2011 with over 500 invited constituents each year who were treated to live entertainment and Indian delicacies.

MP Ramdial hosted a Youth Fair & Career Day on Saturday 10th March, 2012 at the Mid Centre Mall Car Park, Chaguanas. This event involved Private Sector Companies, State Owned Companies, NGO's, Ministries as well as Protective Services who on the day setup booths and informed youths of their functions and possible career opportunities at their respective organisations. Various Educational Institutions were also present to inform youths of the multitude of courses they offer. Participating organisations were asked to list their current job vacancies and youths were provided with this listing and directed to these companies to make applications. Minister Ramdial arranged this event in response to the cries of hundreds of youths from across the nation, all of whom were pleading for jobs although they were well qualified, some with undergraduate and even postgraduate degrees.

Eid-ul-Fitr Celebrations
The MP hosted celebrations of Eid-ul-Fitr in 2010 and 2011 at her Constituency Office, with over 500 invited constituents on each occasion.

A Night of Movies Under the Stars; this is what Couva North MP, Ramona Ramdial provided for her constituents on Friday 13th April, 2012. Ramdial invited families from her constituency to Jerry Junction Recreation Ground, Waterloo where they enjoyed two family movies shown on a 20-foot LED screen, free of charge.

Mothers & Fathers Day Celebrations

A joint celebration of Mothers Day and Fathers Day was held at the Couva North Constituency Office in 2011 and over 500 mothers and fathers from the constituency were invited. They were entertained by a live band and each provided with refreshments and tokens of appreciation by MP Ramdial.
