The following is the development from my research to ideas for sting

Definition of TV Sting
A sting or ident generally comprises of a short animated video sequence that forms either a company logo, graphic or image. The length of a sting varies but typically lasts around 5 20 seconds. A stings purpose is to reflect the ideas/products/mentality of a company in a slick, stylish and eye catching way. It creates a strong identity and is a far more pleasing way of displaying a logo as 3D allows almost limitless ways of doing so. Logos can literally be brought to life and manipulated in a variety of ways to produce something that sticks in a viewers mind. In a society where branding is paramount, a sting can be the all important way of achieving this. 20th Century Fox, Paramount and Universal Studios are three companies who have stings that most of the world can identify with. The structure of as sting sequence usually involves forming or revealing a logo. Of course, the way this is done is down to the nature of the company. Universal Studios, for instance, use a camera motion flying over the top of the world with a shimmering effect moving over its surface. The word Universal then revolves into a central position as the camera pulls away as if it has come from behind the earth. It sounds simple on paper, but with its bold font, bright colours and sense of scale, it makes for an extremely memorable piece of imagery. Stings naturally range in complexity and in some cases simple is best. Ultimately it depends on the company and what they want the sting to say about them that determines this. Along with imagery, a sting incorporates sound. The sound can be simply music or sound effects, or both, but when used carefully create a really tailored piece. Sound is very important to help engage the viewer and complement the imagery. It also adds that all important professional touch.

Ideas of Sting
Romance
1. Tunnel Of The Love - Camera at the back of what can be perceived as a boat which has a couple locked in each other embrace. The environment is initially black until lighting up with a fluorescent pink. Following will be icons of love floating up a few inches in from the frame on each side. Thus leaving a small box in which snippets of films can be shown. 2. Paris Street a. Simple pan on a cartoon street of Paris with couples sat outside what appear to be cafes. In the windows of the Cafes theyll be snippets of romantic movies. Till final lift up to skyline where logo will appear

3. Floating Kiss a. Couple sat on couch as camera views them from behind. As they go in for the kiss camera closes-in and the loops upward just as the first floating kiss rise with the first movie. Once couple is out of sight camera stops and watches the kisses raise - within each a movie to be played. Final kiss will have logo for sky movies.

4. Cupids And There Arrows a. Camera focus on Cupid firing his arrow up in the sky next seen will see the arrow fly past leaving sparkling dust which forms into a movie name. This process will be mirrored from the other side and the loop for another two times with different movies. Camera will cut to full length shot of all titles sparkling and cupids on both sides. Final shot from both cupids will intersect leaving enough dust to create Sky Movies Logo

5. Valentine Chocolates

a. Camera will be close in on box of chocolates which will open as the camera draws near. As the camera proceeds to the chocolates within they will be lifted out and in its place will be a film snippet. Once the box is empty the lid will close and on it will be the logo.

6. Girlfriend For Roma. Couple sat on the couch in a close embrace, watching TV. As the film begins to come on the screen the female begins to move away from the embrace and go for the controllers. Viewer watches the action from behind as the camera slowly moves from eye level to above the two characters.

7. Couple Walking With Balloons a. Couple with balloons walking down a path in the park with female holding 8 balloons. Camera follows from behinds before cutting as the first balloon float always. Camera goes to a shot a bit higher as the balloon enters from bottom of screen with movie name upon it. Following will be the remains balloons with the last spiralling in as slowing as it comes to Sky Movies logo.

8. HRF a. Image will shows ribbons and flowers sprout from a light orange background. The ribbons will weave and grow. The camera will switch to moments when the ribbon pass by and in shot flowers will sprout from the ribbon with the title of the movies. As the stings ends the camera moves away from the ribbon to show the ribbon has formed the logo for Sky Movies.

9. Love Pan a. Images enter with shot of valentines icons crowding the shot. The camera pans up as the more images of products can be seen each sharing a film title. When getting above them all. Sky movies logo will fade in.

Superheroes
10. Harold The Wannabe - Camera focused on silhouette of a figure presumably a hero. Camera slowly moves in as title appear beneath figure in an almost superman-esque way. Finally when the title end the light will switch on to see and old man with a shower cap on and a towel wrapped around his neck. The character will looked ashamed and cover up as all he wearing is love heart boxer before exiting to the right. Behind him will the Sky logo on the wall.

11. Spotlights & Silhouettes a. The theme of the sting will black white old movie. The camera will be pointing at a cloudy sky. Through the animation spotlights will shine and move across the cloudy sky with symbols and the title of the movies. The final Spotlight will center and have the logo for sky movies.

12. Heroes Text Graphic a. The Camera will be close in on a corner of a letter, which will have a snippet of a hero movie playing. The camera will cut to another letter playing a different snippet. This continues until reaching the last letter o in the word Hero. From this the letter will spin left and transform into sky movies logo.

13. Billboard Smash a. Camera goes to a criminal being picked up and hit by a superhero figure. The camera then cuts to a skyline with billboards and a movie snippet upon it. When the snippet ends the criminal crashes through billboard and the camera cuts to the next billboard and begins the same process four times. In the final billboard crash the superhero comes through the billboard and flies towards the camera.

His chest will have the logo for sky movies which will enter the frames before black out to logo.

14. Bobbit Pretend Hero a. Little character jumps around a sky remote control wearing a superhero costume. As he hits each button he changes the TV channel in front of him. On TV will be snippets of movies which change when the character hits the button. Finally the character jumps on to the sky button which on the TV brings up sky movies logo.

15. Runaway Criminal a. The camera focused on a wall wear a criminal is looking scared. As he splits off the screen. The superhero fire on off his abilities which misses the criminal and leaves a stain on the wall with the movie title. This continues for 4 shots with different abilities being used each time. Finally the criminal is in the final shot with freeze and falls out of shot. Behind him will be the sky movies logo.

16. Superhero Flyby a. Camera pans a city skyline as a superhero weaves in and out of billboards playing snippets of movies. Once the character reaches past the final billboard he banks towards the camera the fly up to it with his breast plate taken all of the shot. Upon his costume will be the Sky movies logo.

17. Batman salute a. The character will be a little kid in a costume pretend fighting. When he throws a punch or a kick a comic style noise illustration will appear and instead of the standard sound effects words it will be a movie name. The final shot will be the boy turning and the camera zooming in on his cape which will have the sky movies logo on.

18. Hero In Action

a. Character flies from side to side in frame using all his abilities and making explosion and other things happen of screen. Finally when close enough his fly towards camera, so close as to only see his breast plate. Upon it will be the words hero. As the image holds the logo for sky movies will fade in. 19. Superhero Dog a. A super hero is sat in his chair in his living room watching TV. The camera will see his faithful companion the dog perk up a speed out of the living room. As the character is still slumped there the camera will cut to the TV showing the movies advertised. As it cuts back the character is still sat there as in the window we see the dog fighting outside. This repeats twice before the dog returns with ash all over him and lies next to the character. The camera zooms in on the dog body to see the Sky movies logo outlines in ash.
