Guide lines for MBA Project Report Writing

Every student of MBA has to do a summer project for 6 weeks after completing his/her MBA 1st Year and submit a Report in IV semester itself. The project Report carries 200 marks and should contain 75 to 100 pages. Out of 200 marks for the project work, 80 marks shall be for Internal Evaluation and 120 marks for the End Semester Examination. Every student has to approach a company and obtain permission for summer project which generally starts from 15th April to 15th May. The Head of the Department of the Management shall assign a faculty member as guide to each and every student. The student has to interact with his/her guide for necessary guidance. If any executive is willing to guide the student in the company, the student can also take his guidance. The student has to take certificate from the concerned companys executive after the completion of the project.

Submission of Report:
The project report has to be neatly typed in 12 font Times New Roman and hard bounded (not spiral binding) in A4 Sizes. Each college has to use one uniform color for all the reports. The project report should contain certificates from the Company, Guide, Head and a declaration by the candidate himself. The project report should be submitted to the concern guide.

Project Report Layout: Chapter-I: Introduction: 8 to 10 pages


The student has to write a brief introduction on the topic selected for the study. He has to present the theoretical back ground, concepts and significance of the topic taken for the study.

Chapter II: The Study Design: 2-5 pages


Write the importance and need for the study. Specific objectives/Hypothesis of the study Data collection methods: The student has to specify the primary sources and secondary sources of information used for the study.

Sampling: If any student undertakes a project on attitude, perception, consumer behavior, customer satisfaction, etc., he has to specify the sample size and sampling techniques used and justify the same.

Statistical Techniques: The student has to specify the Statistical Techniques used for the study. Every student should use preferable appropriate statistical techniques for the analysis of the data based on the need.

Review of literature Limitations of the study: If there are any limitations in collection necessary data, etc., the student has to specify the same in the report.

Chapter- III : Profile of the Industry & company: 20 25 Pages


The student has to present the details of the company such as history, historical development, management, product mix, production details, organization structure of employees, promoters details, market analysis, market share, financial performance etc.,

Chapter IV : 20 30 Pages
The student has to divide the analysis of data collected for the study 2 to 3 chapters and present it by using necessary statistical tools and techniques. While presenting, he has to give the inferences and suggestions wherever necessary.

Chapter V: Summary and Suggestion: 5 to 10 pages


The student has to summarize the whole study and offer his/her suggestions to the company on the selected topic.
