On Monday 14th May, 4H travelled to The British Museum to participate in their Music and ICT workshop. The session linked back to the Year 4 topic Africa, and enabled the children to explore the artefacts in the museum, use digital equipment and make music all under one roof. The class got snappy-happy with their digital cameras, looking at different masks and weaponry, and found out lots about celebrations within different African tribes. Once back in the Samsung Digital Centre, the children used their findings to work in groups and create their own piece of celebration music. They got to use their Djembe drums as they do in school, and also tried out using other African instruments too. The children then had their pieces professionally recorded, and these are going to be sent back to Brampton for us to use within our Music lessons. The class thoroughly enjoyed their trip and were, once again, a pleasure to take out of school; we had many compliments from members of the public on how polite and well behaved the children were on the train and tube. Well done 4H! Governor NewsFinance and Personnel This Governor sub-committee met last Tuesday and discussed the Finance Report and the proposed budget for 2012-2013. They received an updated staffing report and reviewed the School Development Plan. As part of their responsibilities they monitored the Teachers Performance Management cycle and staff risk assessments. Arrangements for succession planning were discussed. Parents Comments We were pleased to receive recently a lovely complimentary letter from Mr and Mrs Clarke, parents to Joshua in 5B and Zachary in 3W. They wanted to congratulate Miss Fisher and staff on the changes made over the last few years to make our school such a wonderful place to learn. They wanted to thank Miss Bennett for her work in maintaining normality during the distractions of building works and wished to commend Miss Wilson for the Teachers Gold Book for her inspirational teaching. They were very pleased with the quality of outstanding work seen this year in 3W. They were also very appreciative of the extra effort by teachers and teaching assistants to organise well conceived, relevant and interesting school trips to inspire and educate children. Finally the Family SEAL sessions were praised as thought provoking and informative. Many thanks to the Clarkes for their kind comments - we have a very hard working staff and it is always great to have their efforts acknowledged with such positive feedback.
