Inter-Departmental Research Project of UGC on Electro-physiological and Neuroimaging studies including mathematical modeling under the Scheme Centre with Potential for Excellence in Particular Area (CPEPA) Participating departments are Psychology, Applied Mathematics and Physiology.

The Department of Psychology, University of Calcutta has been credited with the Centre for the Study of Developmental Disability under DRS-I, Special Assistance Programme, sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC). National Conference / Workshops / Seminars/ Courses Organized Recently: 1. Seven Workshops on Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Rorschach Inkblot Test, Mental Retardation, Gestalt Therapy and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation in 2006-2007. 2. Six Seminars on: Object Relations Theory, Lacan, Psycholinguistics, Freud- Two (2) Seminars, Borderline Personality Disorder in 2006-2007. 3. 34th National Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists 2008 4. Disability: A Battle with reality (In collaboration with Bethune College November 2009) 5. A day-long workshop on Providing crisis mental health in disasters, conducted by Dr. R. Kevin Rowell on behalf of the University of Central Arkansas and American Psychological Association, organized by the Department of Psychology, University of Calcutta in collaboration with Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP), West Bengal Branch. 6. Experimental Psychology Qualitative Research Academic & Other Activities Regular theoretical and practical classes and tutorials Regular seminars, journal clubs, --movie clubs, case conferences, group discussions with audio-visual medium Individual student counselling Regular assessments of the students through assignments Inner Eye, a biannual newsletter of M.Phil Course of Clinical Psychology is being published since 2009. Clinical Services Offered (with regular faculty supervision) Common facilities provided to the community through assessment, counseling and psychotherapy to psychiatric patients referred by different government hospitals and N.G.Os. Common facilities are also provided to N.G.O. s which deal with disability and with other physical disorders (cancer, hypertension, HIV etc.). These services are rendered without any monetary charges. Clinical assessment in different Disability Camps organized by Govt. & Non- Govt. Institutions allover state. In C.U.I.I.P.P. (Calcutta University Industry Institute Partnership Programme), the Department has clinical diagnostic and counseling unit, since 2002.
