Chin National Party


Background Chin National Party believes that the forthcoming 2010 general elections in Burma will open up opportunities for Chin people and should not miss out on the chance to contest. The party firmly believes that the outcome of the election will help improve development in Chin state and resolve some long standing problems like poor livelihoods, language problems and loss of tradition. The CNP plans to contest in all nine townships in Chin state and has set up township level working committees and sub-offices in Mindat, Kanpalet, Matupi and Falam Township. The partys president Pu Zozam and general secretary Salai Ceubikthawng have begun campaigning and mobilizing voters in these areas. The Chin National Partys policy and manifesto will strive to share equal power in the state and to utilize the areas natural resources, to end illegal activities like collecting excessive money, uncalled for punishment, arbitrary arrests and forced labour in the state. In addition it will also fight for more self-determination, business, social and political issues, and religious and human rights issues in Chin state. The Union Election Commission granted permission to the Chin National Party with its headquarters at No. (277) on BPI Road in West Gyogon Ward in Insein Township, Yangon Division to register as a political party as of 27 May 2010. The registration number of the Chin National Party is (21).
