Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! Pastor Jeff and his family are celebrating Christmas with their famil-
ies in Illinois. They will return late tonight. Phil Greve is also celebrating with family in California.
Thanks to Pastor William for preaching, Pastor Don Erickson for presiding, and Christina Moore,
one of our CAS keyboard instructors, for accompanying our worship this morning.

Poinsettia Garden Update – Thanks to everyone who donated poinsettias this year! If possible,
we would like them to remain until after worship next Sunday…the 12th day of Christmas.

Sunday Studies Resume Next Sunday – The 10:45 a.m. No Experience Necessary Study and
the 12:30 p.m. Journey Group will not meet until Sunday, January 6th.

Wednesday Night Live Resumes January 9th – SoJ’s mid-week faith and friendship building
activity night will not meet during this week because of the New Year holiday. All activities will re-
sume, Wednesday, Jan 9.

Young Adult Small Group Update – This 20’s-30’s group will be taking a break over the holi-
days and will meet again for small group discussion on Monday, Jan. 7 at Phil Greve’s home. New
folks are always welcome! On Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m., we will be joining the Young Adult Community
worship gathering at St. Luke’s UMC on the West side of town. For more information about these
and other activities, sign up for the Young Adult e-newsletter at the Welcome Center, and check
the SoJ website under Ministries/Young Adults.

Strong Year-End Giving Needed – We would be richly blessed by a boost in 2007 year-end
giving. If you have been blessed with an extra measure of economic security this season, please
prayerfully consider how you may be able to use that blessing to benefit Spirit of JOY. Gifts to our
Operating Fund (Mission and Ministry) and Debt Retirement Fund (Building Fund) are both greatly
needed! For income tax purposes, all gifts postmarked by December 31st will be reported in your
2007 giving summary. Thanks in advance for any gifts you may be able to share! In addition, if
you haven’t completed a 2008 Estimate of Giving Card, they may be returned in the offering
basket or at the church office through December 31st.

2008 Building Use Forms – If your group has regularly scheduled meetings at SoJ, a new
Building Use form must be filled out and returned to the office. Questions? See Bob Belk.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Sign-Up Concludes Today – We are 7 days from our 1st host-
ing of homeless families in 2008 – Jan 6-13. Epiphany! What better way to “shine forth” than to

be present to our guests! Sign up has been good but we have room for folks to participate. If you
have signed up for previous hosting, please sign up again and verify your info on the Volunteer
Roster. If you have not helped before, stop by the IHN TRIFOLD to see where your talents could fit
in. Job descriptions are available. POSITIONS STILL OPEN: See Position Roster to Sign-up.

IHN Gift Cards - A big Thanks from IHN for Christmas Gift Cards. Thanks for your overwhelming
generosity in giving over $250 in gift cards and monetary donations.

Christmas Outreach Joy – A record $3754 in monetary donations and gifts was given for SoJ’s
Christmas Outreach this year. When this was combined with $1300 in matching funds from Thriv-
ent Financial for Lutherans SoJ was able to provide Christmas dinners for 250 families in the Bithlo
area through our partnership with Harvest of Hope, gifts and candy for 75 children from Lawton
Chiles Elementary School, our No School Left Behind partner and meals for 20 of their families,
and gifts and new coats for all 16 residents of the Devereux House, a program for abused teens.
Thanks to all the volunteers who made this possible and to God who is impacting our community
in significant ways through Spirit of JOY. What a joy!

Quilting Team – SoJ’s Quilters meet at SoJ at 9:30 am on the 1st & 3rd Mondays. Plan to go to

Bicycle Ministry – Volunteers are needed to help repair bicycles for people in need at 10am on
the 2nd Saturday and 10 am on Wednesdays. To get involved call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

JoyFest '08 Planning Team Meets January 9th – SoJ's 3rd JoyFest will be held the Saturday after
Easter, March 29, 2008. The Planning Team will hold its first meeting, Wednesday, January 9th at 8
p.m. Sing-up at the Welcome Center today or contact team leader, Anna Elias.

Sunday’s COOL Begins New Format…Teachers & Helpers Needed! Sunday’s COOL for ages
4 through 5th grade will start the new year with a new format. Teams of teachers, helpers, check-in
assistants, and subs are now being recruited. Check the sign in poster in the lobby today or see
Nicole Eastwood!

Teacher & Assistant Training – To help kick off our new Sunday’s Cool program, Jan. 13, all
teachers and assistants are asked to attend 1 of 2 training session to help them prepare, Sunday
Jan. 6 from 12:30-3:30 or Wednesday January 9 from 6-9 p.m. Please bring $3 for meals.

Paid Nursery Attendant Opening –SoJ is still looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to
work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you, or someone you know is interested, see Nicole
Eastwood. Kathy Raue is filling in until we find someone. Thanks, Kathy!

Youth IHN Service Project - Middle and High School youth will provide activities and play with
the children of IHN, Saturday, Jan. 12. Sign up at the Welcome Center and watch for details.

Got Citrus? SoJ Youth will help feed the hungry by picking citrus from local backyard trees on
Saturday, January 19. Meet at SoJ at 8:30 a.m. We will return at 2:00 after lunch at CiCI's pizza!
Sign up at the Welcome Center and bring friends!
Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Please
bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center and drop them
into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for your support!

SoJ Hosts Cub Scout Pack – SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. Boys
6 to 11 years old interested in being a Cub Scout should contact Chuck Call @ 407-375-4548.

Children’s Choir and Joy Singers Resume January 9th – There will be no Wednesday Night
Live activities during the two upcoming holiday weeks so the Children’s Choir (grades 1 -5) and
Adult Choir will resume practice on Wednesday, January 9th from 7 to 8 p.m.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ’s Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

CAS Art Classes – Nancy Watson will again be teaching art classes shortly after the New Year!
Adult Painting will be Saturdays, starting Jan 19, 10:30 a.m.-12 noons. Children’s Art (ages 7-10)
will be Mondays, starting Feb 4, 5-6 p.m. For more info, pick up flyer at Welcome Center.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer in the Welcome Center.
