Project Title SINGLE PHASE PREPAID ENERGY METER

Introduction The conventional Electrical billing system where the Electric Power bill given at the end of the month can be paid at Power distribution offices or at e-seva centers. This billing system is quite time consuming and even expensive (in issuing bills at door to door). This traditional Electrical billing system can be replaced with Prepaid Electricity billing system. Another advantage of this project is that we (electricity department) can overcome the illegal power consumption due to the theft identification system. By this we can save the power that is being used by illegal consumption. Aims and Objectives of the Project Following are the specific aims and objectives of the project: It will help in providing security It will definitely help in saving time It will prove to be highly reliable Components Used in the Project The following major components have been used in the making of the project : a) Microcontroller (89s52) b) Power Supply

Technologies Used In order to give the project a final shape in accordance with the aims and objectives, the usage of SIM-300 is mandatory. Team Details Total Team Strength: 3 Each of the team members will play a separate role during the development of the modules. They would acts as leads, team members and Quality Assurance person for different sections of the module. Once they code their modules they will be responsible as a team in performing integration with other modules developed in parallel by other teams. During this process they will be performing integration testing to make sure that the modules get plugged in properly. At each step of deployment, a regression testing phase will be undertaken to make sure that the project is functioning properly.

Working of the Project Prepaid energy meter works just like day to day energy meter, with the addition of prepaid system of recharge. If there is sufficient balance in the account only then the owner will be able to switch appliances through this meter. The individuals are required to purchase balance to the extent they want to utilize on their house hold consumption. When some load is put on the meter, it automatically calculates the usage in watt and thereafter calculated the total units use. These units are multiplied with the cost per unit in order to get the total usage. This usage is continuously deducted from the total balance available to the user. The user is constantly able to update him with the power used. At the requisite time this project also facilitated the user to recharge sufficient amounts as per his requirements. Applications of the Project There are various applications of this project. Some of the most prominent applications are mentioned below: i. ii. Helps in reducing power wastage. Helps in designing centralized system for paying electricity bills
