CHRISTIAN AND HIS FAITH:

The Word Faith
In OT = 2 times but In NT = 245 times
(Deut 32:20; Hab 2:4) As scarce & as common With those who feared the Lord than those who had faith in the Lord.

In OT God is known by the Revelation of Law

Law demanded Godly fear

In NT God is known by the Revelation of Love

Love demanded Godly Trust

CHRISTIAN AND HIS FAITH:

Yet Heb 11 says, they all believed. The essence of sin is lack of trust in God. The Devil has put in the mind of Eve. Perfect life of trust in God on earth is of LJC. Never was a moment when He moved out.

So is He called the AUTHOR & FINISHER of faith.

Let us see:
1. Faith in Connection with Salvation 2.Faith in Connection with Service 3.Faith in Connection with Scriptures 4.Faith in Connection with Storms 5.Faith in Connection with Supplications

Faith in Connection with Salvation:

First mention in NT as Great Faith
Of Centurion (Matt 8:10) Of Canaanite Woman (Matt 15:22, 28) Two Occasions. - Both Gentiles. - Principles of Pure faith. - Setting precedence for all being brought into blessings of eternity.

Faith in Connection with Salvation:

What Kind of Faith was it? The Important aspect in gospel is not only encourage to believe BUT explain:
What they believe and Whom they believe In NT constantly linked with LJC., whosoever believeth in Him John says the very purpose of His gospel is Jn 20:31.

Faith in Connection with Salvation:

What gives the Quality to Faith that Saves?
Is not the source but the object. The First mention of great faith is seen in great Saviour. What made it great? The expression of the centurion, I ALSO am a man of authority. (Lk7:8) Also as well as who? The Lord Jesus Christ. His own authority of Ceaser and His is greater one. He recognized His great Person, Power, Position.

Faith in Connection with Salvation:

Yet how often it is Shaky, and full of Doubts. Some Doubt Not Saved, needs to be saved. Some Saved but still in Doubts. You are looking too much at faith than Christ. Remember: you have exercised saving faith
But also faith in the Son of God. It was faith in Christ that brought us into the start of Christian experience. Left to be Believer in midst of all Unbelievers.

An Active Faith:
Abraham (v21) Rahab (v25)
Both mentioned together.

not Dead but Dynamic Faith

James Illustrates to us of Two Individuals in Ch.2, who proved their Dynamic active faith:

Reputed (our father) Man Hebrew Long life of faith Faith grew Stronger Showed love for God Sacrificed for God Rising above Natural feeling

- Disreputed (the harlot) - Woman - Gentile - Just at the Beginningof life of faith - Faith demonstrated - showed love for People of God - Sacrificed for Gods People - Rising above National feeling

Faith in Connection with Service:

Think of Assembly Meetings, none is without faith.
Lords Supper Come to remember one whom never seen. Gospel Meeting Preach believing God will save some

Bible Studiesfor we know it is Word of God

Prayer Meetings we cannot but He can do all things.

Faith:
Is not wishful thinking, hoping for the best, or taking chance, stepping into dark. That is Mistake! They talk of Power of Positive Thinking. Faith is man stepping out in the light God has already given. a) Why did Noah Build the Ark?
- B God TOLD Him to. By faith Noah being warned of God. God said, Noah acted.

b) What about Moses?

- B God SHOWN Him. Where? In the Bush.

c) What about Abraham? - B He SAW Power of God, from deadness of Womb. If He can give from dead womb then why not raise from tomb.

Faith in Connection with Scriptures:

The Same is with Us. The Need is to: Trust God in the Revelation of the Precious Word Given to me. Faith for us is linked with simple confidence in the scriptures. It will depend on the use we make on the promises of God in the Holy Word. DEVELOPING FAITH. your faith grows exceedingly 2Thes 1:3. It is trusting God in day to day affairs. ye of little faith four times (Matt 6:30; 8:26; 16:8; Lk 12:28). We read of great faith but we reflect ye of little faith.

Faith in Connection with Storms:

why are ye so fearful, O ye of little faith Watch firstly, lest the fear take over faith. If talked to disciples on dry ground? They would Tell of their theology Christ in, then boat would never sink. But in the middle of the storm, they said things that in their better time would have not said.

Faith in Connection with Storms:

Watch secondly, lest your emotions take over faith. Mark & Luke says, Storm comes suddenly, out of no where. God knows good sailors are not made for smooth sailing. Best sailors come out of storm. The Lord brought through to test their faith, strengthen their faith and show them the danger of fear. Christian ought to watch that fear doesnt disturb faith. Matt 14 is Another Storm, with head wind not whirl wind. This was constant wind. Rowing hard but no progress. - Whoever you are. Often like Peter. - He couldnt take Lord at His Word. - Many a times we too dont believe His word, it is I.

Faith in Connection with Supplication:

When saved-unsaved situation at home. When sudden sorrow, death strikes home. Faith is not defeated by death. Till Jn 12 Chap, 7 Sign Miracles
First at a Wedding (Jn 2) Last at a Funeral (Jn 11) this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. -dont let Doubt, fear, reasoning and anxiety rule over us.

Lord increase our faith (Lk 17:5)
