STRENGTH Strength takes a look at the advantages of an organization and what it does well in. In this case, we will look at the strengths of the Shah Alam Lake Garden. After making an observation around the lake, we have identified several strengths. They are: Vehicle parking area There is a parking area located around the Shah Alam Lake Garden. This is one of the strengths of the place, because without a parking area for vehicles it will be hard to attract people to come there. As we already know, the majority of people nowadays move around using their vehicles be it a car or motorcycle. Very few people get from point A to point B by foot. So having an adequate parking area is definitely an advantage for Shah Alam Lake Garden.

The Cultural Park Also available at the Shah Alam Lake Garden is the Cultural Park. This is the place where people can gather and do activities like the cultural dance. It also has a seating area where people can sit and watch the show on stage. This is an advantage of the Shah Alam Lake Garden because it gives an opportunity and an area for people to do any suitable activities.

Resting hut The third strength that will be highlighted here is the resting hut. There are several of these facilities located at the Shah Alam Lake Garden. People will usually walk or even go jogging around the Shah Alam Lake Garden as their recreational activities. Then they will want to find a place to sit down and have a drink or to get some rest. This is where the resting hut will be beneficial.

Strategic location The Shah Alam Lake Garden is also strategically located at the center of the Shah Alam city. This is definitely the strength of the place because it is located near to government buildings and shopping malls such as the PKNS Complex and the Plaza Alam Central. People who come to shop at these places will also want to come to the Shah Alam Lake Garden because it is not too far away.

WEAKNESS

We see as a whole of lake had many problems and it can bring negative effect for people who come and recreation there.

Bad maintenance system We found many plastic bags have not been regulated properly, only some of the plastic bags have been destroy.

Rubbish We found many rubbish at there that have not clean up. It can give bad effect to this place because many tourist come and visit this area on holiday.

Pedestrian lane damaged As we know pedestrian lane the important item in park. But, what have we found, almost all the pedestrian lane damage and too dangerous for all visitors go they for jogging or walk.

Electrical Pole. We found half of the electrical pole have no cover and too dangerous for kids to play over there.

Dustbin without cover We found many of the dustbins without cover. Some of the dustbins do not have a plastic bag to put the rubbish inside and some are smelly.

OPPORTUNITIES

Build more souvenir stall Shah Alam Lake Garden is quite popular among tourist whether tourist from Malaysia or tourist from all over the world. In our observation, there was a few souvenir stall build at Shah Alam Lake Garden. It easier to tourist to get some souvenir to their family and friends when they came to Shah Alam Lake Garden.

Bicycles rent package Shah Alam Lake Garden is wide area and people will feel tired if they want to walk through this lake. It found to be so hard to people to bring their bicycle. So that, the Management Department can makes some effort so that visitors can rent a bicycles.

Package for formal or informal function There was some free place at Shah Alam Lake Garden. We were thinking that there can be a place of seminar or exhibition. Beside the view is very nice, there also have enough facilities to conduct some function.

Water sport activity Shah Alam Lake Garden has wide area of lake. It will be more interesting if there were some water activity such as canoe, water bicycles and so on. Parent can bring their children to have a good recreation time cycling on lake.

THREATS Decay jetty This situation is dangerous for visitor because they may get an accident when walking at the decay jetty. They may get injured when the jetty are break. It also gives bad impression for the visitor because the jetty look old and the decay jetty are not renewed. They must think that the management of the park are not doing the maintenance or not care the park properly.

Crack road Not all the road that visitor use for many activities like walking and jogging are in good conditions. There have the road that was crack and not flat. It is dangerous for people because they may get an accident and injured when they take the wrong step.

Stagnant and pollute water The water systems at this park are not managed properly. There is the area that the water is stagnant and polluted. It may cause the breed of mosquito. When this is occurring, it may cause the breed of dengue and the visitors are get the risk to get dengue when they visit this park.

Lakes threat Partly of the lake does not have the fence. It may cause danger for the visitors that have young or small children. It may cause drown.

Old and decay facilities There have the facilities that decay and may not save to use. It also gives the bad view to visitor. The park is looking bad.

Unmanageable irrigation system The irrigation systems are not managed properly. It does not tidy. It give look view and may cause an accident to visitor.

Unmanageable drainage system The drainage systems are not in good condition. There have the street that wet and have stagnant water. It looks so bad and uncomfortable to visitor. It may cause difficulties to walker because they may get wet when walking through that street. There also have the hole above the drainage system. It gives look view to the visitor and may cause injured to the visitor when they take the wrong step.

Old games facilities There have the games that were decay and damage. It is dangerous to the children that play these games. They may get injured.

Old stem Many big tree and old tree tat have old stem. It is dangerous to the people who pass through that street because they may get injured when that old stem fall.

CONCLUSION

On 22 September 2008 had done the observation at Shah Alam Lake Garden. We thought these Shah Alam Lake Garden is an interesting place. This lake is near with Wet world. It is suitable park to people do any recreation activities such as jogging, walking around lake with their family. We also suggest which to provide more facilities such as public toilet, restaurant, and more playgrounds. It will make tourist feel comfortable when come to the lake. The safety is very bad because Shah Alam Lake Garden an open air without gate. We hope Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam provide the gate to protect the people from the criminal. Beside that, there are many species of plants and flowers. It helps us to give more knowledge as a student Park and Amenity to learn and help us to done another assignment. The benefits at Shah Alam Lake Garden are near with Wet World, Kompleks PKNS, Plaza Alam Sentral and SACC Mall. After tired shopping, people may release their tension at the Shah Alam Lake Garden. As conclusion, we thought Shah Alam Lake Garden is a good for family to relaxation with their family.
